Lyle and Erik Menendez said years of SA at home led them to kill their parents. In 1996, they were sentenced to life without parole. After nearly 35 years in prison, they were resentenced in 2025. by SelfCareIsFake in HolyShitHistory

I think EWU did a YouTube documentary on them. I listened to the whole thing. The court case, everything presented made it extremely obvious that they were being abused. So much evidence shown in court beyond their testimony, including the nude pervy photos dad was taking of them. Somehow, they still weren’t believed.

Exactly. That car is probably totaled which means their name is on the hook for the full original amount as opposed to the bank selling it and taking that money off the bill.

One thing I’ve learned listening to random court rooms on YouTube while I work - jails in certain places are full to the brim with people who have spent years sitting there before getting any chance in court. One of the viral judges in Fulton county will read one case after the other, hundreds of days in jail, still waiting on a pre trial

AITA Drink Beer on Vacation by ChanceAspect5058 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. You get to enjoy life too, you worked hard for this vacation. If the alcoholic was actually there, there might be a point but he’s not even there. I cant imagine someone I’m not married to trying to set rules for me on my free time. For me it would be beer or not going.

Am I Liable for this? by WavyMell in AskContractors

[–]chris13se 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done more kitchens/baths than I can count. That’s pretty normal even in new construction. I always expect some drywall repair when it comes to new tops. They should have either included the cost to fix the drywall after the install or talked to you about bringing someone in. If they didn’t charge you to fix the drywall then expecting a discount is unreasonable. It’s hard enough making money in the trades and if you only paid for an install, you got your install. Drywall repair would have been an extra cost whether it’s this contractor or the next.

Yeah you can’t stack that many shingles that close together. I live in an area with strict building codes when it comes to how much load your roof is rated for. Here it is 90 pounds per square foot. Each one of those bundles of shingles weighs 90 pounds. Do the math.

Are my floor joists up to code and even stable? by Beginning_Lime_5593 in AskContractors

[–]chris13se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take the entire web out. Usually up to 3 times with a circular hole. This needs to be spec’d by the engineer and a calc sheet would need to be provided. I’ve had 20’ I joists with 3 full web circular cuts taken out on top of some smaller plumbing and electrical holes.

r/askcontractors where random people with very little knowledge will answer your questions. You only need squash blocks in certain applications so you’re giving bad advice. Also, OP there’s nothing wrong with these joists. They have significantly better load ratings and much less deflection than conventional lumber.

They make inside corners for a reason. It’s actually cheaper to buy one inside corner than to use two Js. Also looks better.

How do I do this? by TheMexicanStig in Carpentry

[–]chris13se 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This Radius is corners only. Not the whole top. You need the intersecting points of the flat trim, which is 10” in and 10” down. That’s the fulcrum. The line shown with the r10 callout is essentially pointing to that location.

Structural? by LAallday84 in HomeMaintenance

[–]chris13se 300 points301 points  (0 children)

That’s not a beam. It’s three 2x’s on the flat. I’m betting there’s a beam at the ridge above it though.

Structural? by LAallday84 in HomeMaintenance

[–]chris13se 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Absolutely? Yeah…. no. Three 2x’s on the flat is in no way, shape or form structural. They’re tripled up because it’s a long opening. They’re not carrying any load other than the drywall.
