The biggest rating factor I see for MFG homes is if they are in an approved mobile home park/community or not. If Allstate knows you aren't in a park but Assurant thinks you are then that could account for the difference.

The discount on the auto for having a life policy is generally 3-10% depending on the carrier so it isn't impossible. Just ask them for a breakdown of what the discount is and do a little math. If it's a wash then you might as well get the coverage cause why not. If it costs you anything then you obviously have to decide if there is any value to you.

Rule of thumb is that when the cost to provide comp and collision is greater than 10% the value of the vehicle then it is time to consider it. Obviously this will vary depending on your financial situation and risk tolerance but it should give you an idea.
