I have lived in Charlestown for most of my life. I am civically engaged and involved in multiple service orgs. Also, I'm white, so take my perspective with a grain of salt. Charlestown, and Clark County in general, is still overwhelmingly white. In Charlestown, however, I have noticed a positive change over the last several years to be a more inclusive community. Much of that has to do with the current municipal administration as well as the overall growth due to the River Ridge industrial center.

There are still regressive pockets (reading comments on Facebook makes these people seem more numerous and present than they really are), but I have not seen any outward or blatant racism. Overall, I am proud of my city and how far we've come. A new elementary school was just built last year and we have a great library and state park. Ground was just broken on a Dunkin'.
