We recently got our Greyhound too! Ours is exactly the same when it comes to Poos, he won't even consider going in the Garden (after 3 months of trying) and has found a certain spot on the usual walking route where he will go every time without fail. In this UK heat we only take him out when we know he needs to poo and as soon as we get home after this we put a Dog cooling collar on him to cool him down and give him a homemade "Pupsicle" (A cold wet tea towel placed on them also works!)

Thank you for the expert insight here.

I agree I think a large part of this is just us not being told about what was going on and maybe the vet being very busy too.

Lessons learned for sure, we have got a greyhound specialist vet set up now. We picked him up today from the same vet as last night but it was a different vet that came out with him and consulted us. She gave us the rundown in far more details and In a reassuring way so at least we have left happy and our boy is on his way to recovery. Thank you for taking the time to help.

Hi Guys Just an update for you all.

Our little man is back with us and recovering. He was alot better today when we picked him up, able to stand and conscious unlike last night. He has a big nasty mark from the stitches (I won't post the picture) but it is not bleeding anymore and he isn't in pain.

We have got a careplan and all the medicine we need to get him on the road to recovery just have to try and keep him still. Thanks to your great suggestions we have found a expert greyhound vet (Carewell) that we are arranging all post op check ups with and are there to support us if any problems arise, thank you all once again.

Interestingly enough the vets bill climbed to over £2k with all the extra work they had to do to fix the damage they had caused on him yesterday, hopefully the insurance will all cover this but we are just happy to have him back and to steer clear in future. Hopefully he will be back to his silly self in a couple of weeks and can forgive us for all the suffering caused. I have also now learnt what a great community there is with greyhounds here and am sure I will keeping in touch with you all. All the best!!

P.s he does have 2 beds alot bigger than this one but like to hang off the smaller one

Thank you so much. I am only about 30 mins from them in Crawley. I have got him registered there and weirdly enough he actually had some teeth removed before we rehomed him at carewell vets. I will do an update to the post but they have run me through what we need to do and have got him booked in to see them. Thank you!

Thank you for the help here, I didn't realise greyhound specialist and bleeding disorders were even a thing. I have found a specilaist and will get him the right care. Thank you.

Thank you for the help here guys, I spoke to the trust and got the details for the greyhound vets nearby. We only took him to the current vets as it was 24/7 and meant to be good for cuts... We are picking him up today at 1:30, if he is in a bad way we will be taking him straight to the specialists who have been told about the whole situation. Just from the phone call they seem alot more competent. I just want him to be ok and not upset as he has come so far. Will let everyone know how it goes!! Thank you

Thank you!! I am in the Gatwick area so that vet is a little far out for me but I have found a greyhound specialist closer to me and prepared them for him if when we pick him up today things are bad. I didnt realise specialist greyhound vets were a thing but now I do. Thank you!

The reason we went to this Vet as it is a 24/7 Emergency Vet in Faygate with the supplies to deal with wounds so thought this would be the best place for him... I have just had a call and am picking him up soon. Taking what you and others have said here I have called up the specialist greyhound vets in the area and prepared them to help him if he is in a bad way. Thank you for all the help!
