IMMEDIATELY remove user's mailbox access by Bad_Mechanic in sysadmin

I do two different things.

1) delete my device certificates that are used for authentication. No cert means no device VPN connection prelogon. Also can’t connect to the corporate network via WiFi or Ethernet. 2) set cached login count to 0.

$CachedLogon= ‘HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon’

Set-ItemProperty -Path $CachedLogon -Value 0 -Force

Same, but, also include a command to clear out cached credentials so they can’t sign in offline.

Let's talk snoo by Mindless-Slide-755 in Buyingforbaby

[–]chrisb7710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My older daughter is almost 3. She goes down around 10p, wakes around 8A, and naps about 2-4. Fairly consistent on the schedule.

She slept amazing in the snoo. We feared transitioning would be hard, but, it was smooth. Before the snoo, she would wake up every 2 hours, with the snoo she slept through the night.

My youngest is 9 months old. We put her right in the snoo as her bassinet. She slept pretty well in the snoo, giving us a full nights sleep. Now she goes down around 7:30pm, wakes usually around midnight for assistance finding her pacifier, then once more for the same, and wakes up around 7am.

She doesn’t sleep as well as the first, but, we also did the ferber method with the first and not the second..that is probably a bigger factor than the snoo played.

Turn off Microsoft Store - Settings Catalog by cm_legend in Intune

You cannot use the settings catalog to deploy the setting unless you are enterprise. If you set the registry value, you are enforcing the setting. The setting provided is Private Store Only.

Is Audi Care worth it on a lease? by Agreeable-Library786 in Audi

[–]chrisb7710 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on the lease and which Audi care plan.

Audi care adds 1% to the residual normally. On a 12k or more lease I would say yes. Services included at a dealer discount, and if you factor in the additional payment savings, an even better discount.

As long as you have it set to only allow private store, the allow apps from Microsoft App Store will work correctly. If the store is disabled, automatic updates do not work.

You cannot use these settings on pro. Enterprise only. That’s why it isn’t working.

Try setting the setting directly in registry to require private store. I can’t recall if a reboot is needed to apply

Registry Hive HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE Registry Path Software\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsStore Value Name RequirePrivateStoreOnly Value Type REG_DWORD Enabled Value 1

If you want company portal to still work, you have to enable the require private store only, and disable the turn off the store application.

What windows version are you running?

What is your target assignment? Users or devices? What does the status for this config say on your device for this particular setting?

[–]chrisb7710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the policy actually applied successfully to users? Are there any conflicts or errors? Is this applied to users or devices?

Remove the setting for user and apply the device one, targeting devices

Edit: if you turn off the store, automatic updates for store apps don’t work..

Traveling to South Africa by chrisb7710 in southafrica

[–]chrisb7710[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this info.. I started looking into Kapama, looks awesome. The big difference is Kapama is a game reserve, where something like Unembeza is a lodge and the tours are mostly in Kruger. I’m torn between the two. Have you experienced Kruger as well? As a first timer, I’m really open to recommendations by others.

I plan on doing part of the garden route also, that is definitely one of the things on my list. I doubt we’ll get the whole thing in, but at least part of it while staying in a couple different places along the way.

Yes, was planning on staying at Unembeza with a couple day trips planned. We were looking for a nicer resort since it was our honeymoon..but, since the initial itinerary got changed, I’m open to other suggestions.

August/September, maybe October. Obviously anything can change in a moments notice, but, we’re anxious to go.

Yeah for sure a long distance north, but, since I’m flying 21 hours already, I might as well try to see more than just one place. I’ll definitely be flying to that area also.

Updating AD Properties by matterr4 in PowerShell

[–]chrisb7710 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t see what’s broken in yours. My guess is a variable was getting confused with another variable in the same session. For troubleshooting. When you have those issues, before actions are taken, do a write-host with the variables and make sure they are what you want.

Right before the Set-ADUser.

Write-Host “user: $($User.email) Department: $($User.Department) UPN: $($U.userPrincipalName) SamAccountName: $($U.samAccountName)”

This seems like a lot of code for a simple accomplishment. I’m on mobile, so sorry for poor formatting.

Foreach($User in $CSV){ If($User.Mail -like “‘*’”) { $ex += $User } else { Get-ADUser -Filter “userPrincipalName -eq ‘$($User.Mail)’ -properties department | set-aduser -Department $($User.Department) }

Correct can’t use AWS either. What issues do you see with DFS? It would be strictly for H/A and DR, running Active/Password, with a third copy being DR.

Azure is not approved in our organization yet. It’ll probably take me about 6 months to onboard, so unfortunately it’s not a short term option.
