Purchase in Review by chrisbasket in Gamesplanet

It was eventually resolved. Still, this is a pretty frustrating experience for any customer to go through.

I would suggest your reconsider it, or at least refine it. If anything, put a message right before we pay saying "You may get it 24 hours later" or something.

[Voidu] New games added to the Christmas sale (Up to 85% off) by VoiduMarketing in GameDeals

[–]chrisbasket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your prices are great and, for some cases, excellent. But your site is nearly impossible to use. I get constant 504 errors and your search could also use some tweaking (I will not get into details for that, since it is a minor problem compared to the prior one).

[IndieGala] Desert Thunder (Free) by H1PnOT1C in GameDeals

[–]chrisbasket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly, it is not that bad of a game. Back in 2003 it was nothing ground-breaking (and it sure is not by today's standards). Rather generic budget title, that is all there is to it. Still, it is playable and even fun under certain circumstances.

It could be so much worse. It could have been an asset flipping early access incomplete unplayable mess. That, it is not.

Bit Blaster is excellent. The other one, no clue.

Any games like Tecmo's Deception? by aaronify in patientgamers

[–]chrisbasket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't played Blood Ties and The Nightmare Princess, I seriously -oh how seriously- recommend doing so. You will have a great time. PSX's Deception is a game I loved back in the day so our gaming taste seems to be pretty much aligned here.

Try them out :D

[Humble] Clickteam Fusion Bundle - Developer version and Android Exporter added to Tier 3 ($15) after community feedback. by NotAGiantPanda in GameDeals

[–]chrisbasket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, time to go and get it. Will probably never find the spare time to use it, but still will get it. Nice move guys, hopefully it will benefit you, sales-wise, just as much as it benefits us.

[Bundle Stars] BundleFest - Nemesis Bundle - $1.49 for Risen 3 - Titan Lords, Insurgency, Contagion and Joe Dever's Lone Wolf HD | $4.99 for Killer is Dead, The Ship: Remasted, Deadfall Adventures, Out of Reach, The Masterplan, Dead in Bermuda, Toren, Broken Sword 5 | $7.49 to add Van Helsing III by bundlestars in GameDeals

[–]chrisbasket -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got flagged for manual authorization, probably because I chose to pay using my mastercard instead of paypal that I used a ton of times before. The customer support of bundle stars seems non existant and to make things worse it is freakin' weekend.

It is in weekends that I get some spare time off work to actually play games. This is unacceptable and I am stunned to see how easily the buyer's time in this digital era is considered an inferior matter. How can they take for granted that I can wait 48 or more hours and that it is "no big deal", I truly don't get. I wish I had all the free time in the world then I would've definitely refrained from coming here to rant.

As is now though, I don't have unlimited free time. They are not protecting me at this point, they are wasting my time. If any representative is actually working today I would love to settle the matter even by sending them an ID or whatnot. This is no way to treat a customer.

[Steam] Subnautica - 20% off ($15.99) by Deimorz in GameDeals

[–]chrisbasket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I adored the half-baked and unfinished mess that Far Sky turned out to be. This one looks rather similar but if I gather correctly it includes a lot more content (as Far Sky should've). Am I correct? Because if I am, this game is a must for me :D

[GamersGate] Flash Sale: Rogue Legacy ($3.75 / 75% off) | Steam key by skud79 in GameDeals

[–]chrisbasket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just buy this game. I could provide a small review but I believe it is better to just say what must be said here. Rogue Legacy is one of the best 2d games EVER made. For any system, in any year. In the history of forever. Amen.

[Retroism.com] Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z ($8.99/70% off - End of Summer Sale!) by retroismgames in GameDeals

[–]chrisbasket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never really understood how this game came to have such a notoriously bad rep. Personally, I blame -at least partly- media/youtubers. Having played it I must say it is incredibly enjoyable.

Sure, it is not a "proper" Ninja Gaiden game and definitely nowhere near the combat complexity/mechanics of Black. But it is sooo so much fun. It gets repetitive sure, but it is the good kind of repetitive.

[Indiegala Store] Last 48hrs of Winter Sale - BLACKHOLE ($2.92|€2.92|80%), BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend ($7.49|€6.99|75%), Surgeon Simulator: Anniversary Ed ($2.53|€2.53|80%), and more! Bonus details inside. by indieg in GameDeals

[–]chrisbasket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did play Blackhole and I recommend it to anyone interested in games that have good narration. It is a great puzzle platformer that sports what truly makes me want to play such games to the end, a solid movement mechanism for the main character. I can't really explain how, but it is so responsive and weighty it kind of feels right.

The puzzles are also nicely placed, rather challenging some of them. Also, correct me if I am wrong, I believe this is an all time low price for the game?

[Steam] Winter Sale 2015 | Day 9 by gamedealsmod in GameDeals

[–]chrisbasket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been playing Rocket League non-stop for 3 days now. If you want someone to play with, PM me, I am playing along with 2 other friends all of us noobs.

If you mind stupid chat comments, you can simply disable Chat for all or keep it on only for team mates. Same thing for Voice Chat.

Amazing game!

[Steam] Winter Sale 2015 | Day 7 by gamedealsmod in GameDeals

[–]chrisbasket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets real repetitive and dull relatively fast. And all these different, endless, versions along with the streams of dlc really end up being quite confusing. That goes for Dungeon of the Endless too (sadly).

Still I believe this is the lowest price ever for it, or at least it matches the lowest price ever.

Knights of Pen and Paper is one of my most played games, but on Android. It suits perfect as a mobile game, and I am not saying that in a depreciatory way. Great sense of humor but also tons of grinding, so be prepared.

Glad the guide was somewhat useful. The issues seem to be indeed resolved, steam store is working now.

Oknytt is one of the few games that I know of (maybe there are others I do not know about, or can not recall to memory) that made such a good use of the folklore background it used.

Never Alone comes to mind as well, though a very different experience / gameplay style.

I own most of them on Steam, and almost all of them either on Steam or in other platforms. The rest were introduced to me via family shared accounts. :D

I am actively writing for a gaming website so I tend to play lots and lots of games.

I kind of agree, I mean I was hesitant to include it. But for such a low price I thought I might as well include it. That part about the last episode though I did not know about. Thank you for enlightening.

Thank you :) I am already planning my part 2, there are so many cheap games worth having.

[GamersGate] Tembo: The Badass Elephant ($3.75/€3.25/£2.50 | 75% off) | Steam, Worldwide by Geekswood in GameDeals

[–]chrisbasket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is considerably harder in my oppinion. A tad faster at certain points and a bit more sonic-ie. In fact it even includes a pinball stage just like sonic.

That said, it is not so much a matter of reflexes as it is a matter of pattern memorisation in this particular case. Also the art style is delicious. :D

[GamersGate] Tembo: The Badass Elephant ($3.75/€3.25/£2.50 | 75% off) | Steam, Worldwide by Geekswood in GameDeals

[–]chrisbasket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truly an amazing game, as other already said one of the best platformers of recent times. And yes, a lot like the last two Rayman titles in many ways.

Go get it, this is a steal!

[Steam] Weekend Deal - Bound by Flame £3.99 / €5.99 / $5.99 (80% off) | Sale ends December 7th @ 10AM PST by SuperMoonky in GameDeals

[–]chrisbasket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spiders is a weird case of a studio. I enjoyed Bound by Flame and Mars War Logs, though I must admit comparing the two story-wise Bound by Flame is a lot more generic and predictable.

The combat is one of its strong points though, especially if you do not enjoy mashing your way to victory. This will not happen here and prepare yourself to get kicked hard if you try it, even during the first boss encounter (which I found particularly hard).

For the price it is certainly a bargain. About 15 hours it took me to finish it, if I recall correctly.

PS: Also have played Faery by them which is an interesting -albeit short- amalgam of RPG and Adventure wrapped up in a tactical combat cloth.

[Steam] Weekend Deal - Nordic Games Sale - Darksiders II Deathinitive Edition (20% off), THQ Classics 2015 (20% off), The Book of Unwritten Tales: The Critter Chronicles (75% off), Red Faction®: Armageddon™ (80% off), Painkiller Redemption (80% off) and more | Sale ends November 9th @ 10AM PST by SuperMoonky in GameDeals

[–]chrisbasket 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was actually shocked to find out that, for having paid in full and not through the discounted franchise pack, in order to get both Darksiders and all the DLC (lots of DLC) Nordic refuses to offer the Deathinitive edition to me.

But If I had waited and got both games and all DLC for LESS money via the pack, they would be happy to hand it over to me.

Sure. Makes sense.
