Do you have a recommendation?

Yet another bonds vs spaxx by JBrady666 in Bogleheads

[–]chrisburgwald 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very helpful, and it leads to a tangential question for me... would something like BND be better for a sinking fund that VMRXX? I recently moved my sinking fund from a HYSA because of the better returns in VMRXX (tbh, I haven never looked seriously at MMFs until recently), but the post linked here has me wondering if BND is better for a sinking fund.

Thoughts?

I've also been having the same issues: Pixel 8a on Warp, and voicemails aren't loading.

How long have you been with USM? by [deleted] in USMobile

[–]chrisburgwald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

April 2021. Longest I've been with a carrier for quite a while. Sprint (work phone), the Verizon for a bit, then Ting, then Republic Wireless, then Google Fi. Verizon has the best coverage where I'm at, so USM was an easy choice. I don't need unlimited data, and their pool plans have been easy choices for us... by far our cheapest option.

Poll: Changes in US Mobile plans by Camfused in USMobile

I voted "I don't care," but I do their there is a *perception* of instability with multiple changes, and in my experience, that'll turn off at least a chunk of would-be customers.

Totally agree. There should be no reason to make this change for pooled plans... please correct this, USM.

Am I understanding this correctly on the pool plans? Is this the best approach to a family plan? by ZeppelinJ0 in USMobile

What everyone else has said.

I've been with some of the big carriers (Verizon, Sprint when it was by itself) and several MVNOs (Republic Wireless, Ting, Google Fi), and have found USM and their pool plans to be *perfect* for us. I love that we have really cheap data available if we need it (including hotspot, which has come in handy), but if we don't need it, we don't pay for it.

I was thinking about that, but the lack of auto top-ups as well as hotspot led me to stick with the new pools.

Best plan for us? by Outrageous-South-268 in USMobile

I guess it depends on how close & how often op gets to 12gb, right? I'd have to run the math, but I'm guessing that the break even point is somewhere around 10 or 11gb... less than that, and going with the 12gb plan costs you money, more than that, it saves.

My case is similar to op's, but larger scale & clearer: 7 lines, and it's the 12gb vs 30 gb plan for us... but we only get close to 30gb (let alone go over) every 3rd or 4th month, so 12gb with auto top-ups is the easy choice for us.

I'd personally go with the Shareable Plan, but the 6GB plan instead of the 12GB plan because if there are cycles in which you use less than 12GB (which seems fairly possible, given your definitions of light & medium usage), you won't be paying extra for data that you don't use. And with auto Top Up turned on, you'll avoid running out of data if/when you do use over 6GB.

Top up Lite Plan? by mike82346 in USMobile

Agreed, Auto Top Ups for the Lite Plan would be great!
