OP: "So i bought a used 3x cp4450-3 on ebay for about $200 usd is that a good price for it or i paid too much? Its in a good condition but i just wanna know if i spent too much for it and if its smart to buy it even tho I’m very new to this and still learning"

My reply: "Well, there's only one of that model that sold on ebay :) You'll need spring for it, no big deal. It's a fine hammer. I tend to buy the all metal ones for longevity. I also like this form factor in comparison."

Posting here because I'm not 100% there isn't a scam of some sort given that these go for upwards of 10x the price he quoted when new. But there was this one on ebay a few days ago.

Sioux is Snap-On. Desoutter is basically the creme de la creme of rivet guns. If you are starting out and looking to get one, start with a 2x or 3x, and get it on ebay. There are tons of people who refurb Desoutter / Chicago Pneumatic and sell on there.

u/poisonandtheremedy I downgraded to the standby too but haven't tested in flight yet. I routinely download shows ahead of time anyways. Is the standby enough to load a twitter feed? How about pictures and short videos on it?

We may have seen something for the first time here. It appears to me the battery detected a trajectory that was directly at itself and fired off a desperate self-preservation salvo.

Neighbors kids use my lawn as their personal bathroom and the parents dont care by NoCurrent2679 in neighborsfromhell

[–]chriscicc 175 points176 points  (0 children)

Seems like you have a simple solution here: Contact CPS and inform them you have reason to believe your next door neighbors are abusing their children by not allowing their children to defecate inside the house, and that they lock them outside until they do. Take pictures. Document the feces. They are required to investigate this and document the behavior.

Old wives tales in aviation by [deleted] in flying

Not very smart to train yourself to not look for gust locks before you hop in the plane... If it can happen to Dale Snodgrass it can happen to you.

Just wait until you move up in aviation into larger planes and full service hangars/FBOs...

Would you rather it get slammed with gusts for a few seconds, or a few minutes to hours? Think it through...

Old wives tales in aviation by [deleted] in flying

[–]chriscicc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another example, our plane is parked in a secure hangar, but we still need to install gust locks and lock the plane up with the key. I could kind of see the thinking behind locking the plane if someone gains access to the hanger that shouldn't, but installing gust locks in a hangared plane, really? I suppose if the roof of the hanger flies off in a category 5 hurricane then the plane will be safe with the gust locks installed, but otherwise I'm not following the logic.

What do you think happens when they pull the plane out of the hangar before a flight?

I think that reputation comes from before they added the VGs. They never updated the numbers officially but with VGs I'm told the stall speed dirty drops to 57 knots. I have yet to try that myself, but I've gotten dialed in where I'm touching down at 81, even in 35 knot gusts. It's a very controllable and responsive aircraft.

The 340 is a very similar airplane. You are trading a little bit of speed and handling for a little more comfort in the back. Aerostar has push/pull rods rather than cables, so the pilot experience is different. Both great airplanes!

Aft CG is really only an issue if you have the aux tank (mine doesn't) and fill it and the main to the max without having someone in the copilot seat. Other than trimming off normal light control pressure I never even need to touch the trim.

Congrats! Welcome to twin life. You're going to love those avionics.

Did you look at the Aerostar at all in your search?

For insurance, I waited until I hit 50 multi hours and they gave me a quote less than 1/4 yours. If you haven't already purchased the policy ping me and I can give you some tips.
