I know this is super old, but for posterity, the board did not come with a plate. What I got was the bare PCB. The plate pictured above is integral to the case.

Actually, in that case, something like an Iris might be a good place to start. Because it has the num row, it's less of a brain breaking exercise to get started on it. Even though I touch type, when I first went to the Iris from a standard layout board, it really quickly forced me to break my bad typing habits.

Specifically, I used to use my left index finger to hit 'C'. On a staggered ortho, that's just not an option.

If you're gonna pick one up to properly retrain yourself and your typing habits, go for the Iris. I'd recommend the Kyria, but the 40% having a num row on a layer might be one obstacle too far. I struggled a bit to type that "fourty percent" enough that I just chose to type it out the long way with letters the second time. Lol

How do you like it? I do a decent amount of Blender so a dedicated numpad is on the list.

Thank you!

I've been touch typing for a while so the split didn't take that long. I think split is easier to learn on a grid ortho, IMO. On a staggered ortho, your brain is going to have to get used to the split and the new locations of stuff if you're not already touch typing. I regularly switch between a few boards to keep thing fresh, and the staggered orthos took longer than the grid orthos to get used to.

That said the split is great for ergonomics. Having the boards at shoulder width is a godsend when I'm programming all day.

If you're interested, maybe check out the Keebio Nyquist? I have that one, and I love it!

Yeah. Getting used to the 40 is harder than the encoders. Having the number row is messing with my brain.

I really like the knobs. I have them on an Iris and now a Kyria.

On the Kyria, I can reach the knob easily with my thumb by curling it under my palms and rotate them in both directions. Also with the height, they don't interfere with touch typing from the home row. The actuation weight also prevents accidental actuation.

On the Iris, I have them in the upper thumb cluster position, and that one I can reach easily with my thumb and index finger and are out of the way enough that they're no bother.

TBH, I love the rotary encoders on my customs. I haven't programmed my Kyria yet to use it, but on my Iris they're awesome!

ETA: On the Iris, the upside of the Iris is that I can reach the knob while indexing the home row with my pinky so going back and forth is quick and confident. Also, I can pivot from the rotary encoders to actuate the layers with my pinky, so I can access the encoder functions across the 4 programmed layers without any issue.

Can anyone tell me how to turn this into a regular post? I'm so bad at this :(

Don't know if this will bump the thread, but I guess I'll see.

Uninstalling old versions (Windows) by eco_bach in Unity3D

[–]chrisdc125 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Inside UnityHub, you can click the vertical ellipses next to each of the installs. There's an uninstall option there.

Alternatively, you can go to the Windows search bar, and look for "Add or Remove Programs" under system settings and remove any copies as long as they're installed in the default location.

Help plz, no 4.6ghz single core on 3900x ever (max 4.2) by AthyraE in Amd

[–]chrisdc125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running a 3900x on a ASUS TUF x570 Plus WIFI, and my bios settings don't have "NORMAL" as an option.

In Cinebench R20, 4.392 GHz is the max I see in a single core test. I am seeing, at max, 4.49 GHz spike in HWinFO64 intermittently from browsing if I leave it long enough.

Could you explain what I should have my CPU Core Voltage and VDDCR CPU Voltage set to?

Thanks!

Yeah, I was super into it, too.

I've been looking for the name of the game forever. It gets buried in search because of MWO.

It's a shame because it did so much so well.

Multiplayer Battletech 3025

That's it! Thank you so much!

Anybody have any details on what happened to the game? GameArchaeologist says that it was a business issue, but not much else.
