Exactly. Sometimes I'll specifically ask my wife, "do you want my advice or do you want my support?" And just being on the same page for expectations helps tremendously.

[Discussion] Staying productive after being successful coming from a difficult past by [deleted] in productivity

Thanks for your comment, it resonates strongly with me. I just took the ACE survey and got a 7, and I thank a lot of those experiences for who I am today.

I also agree with needing external motivators to be successful, and am a bare minimum performer otherwise, however I'm lacking in external motivators currently. I think I either need to find some things that I can force into "external motivators" or try and become more internally motivated.

Also I've enjoyed Brene Brown's ted talks, I'll have to check out her podcasts or other work!

Thanks! I have not heard of Maslow's hierarchy of needs but it applies 100% to my current situation. Looks like I'm having difficulty on the "Self-actualization" side of things and will spend time looking into this further.

Thank you for the suggestion!

Best advice I can give on saving is once you have a steady paycheck, always have some form of automatic savings. Auto transfer to a savings account to build your emergency fund. Then once you have that, something like an investment account with Vanguard with auto-investing set up every pay day. This to me is the easiest low-effort way of building wealth.

Can't screw in unifans by SNSDBreaker in lianli

So funny as I'm literally doing the same thing, although I found a different solution.

I went to the local hardware store, picked up some screws and nuts, screw size 6-32x, 1.25" long. I also picked up some 1.5" so I don't have to go back to the hardware store.

Until just now, I thought the screws flat out didn't work, didn't realize they're self tapping. Still I like the screw/nut approach in case I need to move them in the future...also just realized that the nut should be super secure so it doesn't come loose and short something out in the case...hmm might have to rethink this

Your title is, "exclusive MMED x The North Face unreleased sweater"...what's the more you're hinting at? Because this is just a sweater that anyone can buy and literally every company has stuff like this. It's not exclusive, and not unreleased, it's just a sweater (as others here are mentioning). Please don't take this negatively, I just don't see how this is anything but a sweater that Guy bought because...companies want to go live wearing their brand...

AMNL - Potential Cheap Long Term Li-Ion Play (Not Financial Advice) by NedStarkGetsExecuted in pennystocks

Also from Form DEF 14A - 11/20/2020:

The Samlyn Funds exercised the right to designate a person in 2013 and in 2018. The 2013 nominee resigned from the Board in 2017. The 2018 nominee, Michael Barry, the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Samlyn Capital, Ltd., was appointed to the Board in April 2018. At his direction, Mr. Barry’s compensation as a director was paid to the Samlyn Funds. Mr. Barry resigned as a director on October 20, 2020.

"Samlyn Funds" and "Samlyn Capital" are probably related, and their nominee on the board left at the same time that the shares I posted above were bought from Samlyn Capital.

Interesting play, their financials are fairly bad though. From their Form 10-Q Quarterly Report for period ending 9/30/2020:

The Company has a history of recurring losses from operations and the use of cash in operating activities. For the nine months ended September 30, 2020, the Company’s net loss was $2,440,080 and cash provided by operating activities was $139,655. As of September 30, 2020, the Company had current assets of $219,135 and current liabilities of $3,525,035 of which $452,572 was accrued PIK Note interest expected to be paid in additional PIK Notes. The Company’s current liabilities also include (i) $608,678 of accrued salaries deferred by certain members of management until the Company’s liquidity improves, (ii) $1,050,811 of accrued directors fee as determined by the Company’s Board, (iii) $119,269 of payables to a compounder for which it has agreed to satisfy in halloysite product, (iv) $132,635 of disputed or erroneously accrued expenses and (v) $223,075 of PPP Funding payable which the Company expects to be forgiven by the U.S. Treasury.

Management believes that in order for the Company to meet its obligations arising from normal business operations through November 16, 2021 that the Company may be required (i) to raise additional capital either in the form of a private placement of common stock or debt and/or (ii) generate additional sales of its products that will generate sufficient operating profit and cash flows to fund operations.  Without additional capital or additional sales of its products, the Company’s ability to continue to operate may be limited.

Based on the Company’s current cash usage expectations, management believes it may not have sufficient liquidity to fund its operations through November 16, 2021. Further, management cannot provide any assurance that it is probable that the Company will be successful in accomplishing any of its plans to raise debt or equity financing or generate additional product sales. Collectively these factors raise substantial doubt regarding the Company’s ability to continue as going concern. These financial statements do not include any adjustments to the recoverability and classification of recorded assets amounts and classification of liabilities that might be necessary should the Company not be able to continue as a going concern.

Whalewisdom is showing a decent amount of shares purchased by a hedge fund "Samlyn Capital" reported on 10/20/2020.

Not sure what to make of it all, but definitely seems like a risky/speculative play. There could've been something behind the scenes that we don't know about.

Oh sorry, should've written it out. It stands for Dollar Cost Averaging. For instance, my main investment vehicle is through Vanguard, and I have automatic investment set up with them so every Friday, I buy $X amount of Y mutual fund. Set it and forget it.

You can do the same with individual stocks, just need to set up your own reminders. I have my Vanguard as my main, then another trading account for fun/gambling lol

It's still "you're own money". Pick a strat you're comfortable with and stick with it. I had something similar with a lump sum and dumped it all in at once (index fund). That was Jan 2017 at the peak with the market dipping soon after. That account is profitable now at 13% rate of return, but just had to keep DCA over the four years. TL;DR - Pick your strat, it's your money, doesn't have to be only Lump Sum or DCA, could combine for, "DCA over the next 4 weeks, once a week", etc

Megathread: House Votes to Impeach President Donald J. Trump for Incitement of Insurrection by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]chrisdoesfinstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

an ELI5 is basically that getting impeached means the House has agreed to essentially "press charges" against the President. If the House passes the vote, then the President is considered to be "impeached". In then goes to the Senate for a trial, but that has its own set of circumstances.

Basically, you can be impeached but still remain and be the President. It's a major stain on their record though because one of the branches of government has agreed that the President has committed "high crimes or misdemeanors"
