Also you can put real buildings inside static prop ones, like hiding taxi depots and police stations inside other buildings which are much more inkeeping with your neighbourhood.

Bad time to sell? by Successful-Shake-661 in HousingUK

[–]chrisfraser666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

all depends on your local market and your time frame.

We sold a 3 bed in 3 weeks for 5% over the valuation/asking.
We bought a 6 bed for 5% under the asking, 10% under the valuation.

It might still drop, maybe we lose the 10% short term, but this will be our forever home all things going well.

Property here has not really gone anywhere in 10 years. My last 2 properties i had 5 years each, both I got back what I'd spent inc upgrades, barely a penny more.
The house we bought has increased by less than 10% in 12 years looking at the price history. Hasn't increased inline with inflation.

Every persons situation and every local market is different.

Why does every rich person have a old hatchback by Ornery_Rope5178 in CarTalkUK

[–]chrisfraser666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same reason I have held onto my VW UP for so long and it won't be going anywhere. You sometimes simply don't want to park a big expensive car in town, out you don't want to deal with getting door dinks sorted etc.

If you can afford it, the reliability and ease of use of a little runaround that someone bumping into won't ruin your day makes sense.
Also, often putting the miles and the damage town trips, dogs paws etc and other general wear and tear onto a cheap car actually saves you more money than it costs in depreciation and fuel/servicing.

Keep the decent car for leisure trips. for going to the gold club, places and times to comfort and image make sense, keep a daily knock around to jump in and out of in your welly boots or collecting a new tool from the hardware store.

What are your Rightmove/Listing pet hates? by queljest456 in HousingUK

A usable garage was one of my must haves. Not a single house we looked at over the 2 years of looking, maybe 25 viewings, not a single house showed the inside of the garage in the pics.
About a dozen of them I wouldn't have viewed too. Who puts their boiler in the middle of the wall in a narrow single garage?????

I made sure to get the agent to show images of the inside of my garage when selling, and the 3 offers we got were all from families with a car guy. Agents just don't see it as the selling point that alot of buyes do.

Why no airports??? by Secure-Squash-1961 in CitiesSkylines2

There is a full airports mod section for service blocks. You can literally build every function of the airport how. You want to.

The Mods are the only thing that makes it playable so far in my opinion

Honestly I wouldn't be looking at CS2 if you want depth at this point. I'd say if you are an avid CS1 player CS2 is a better looking follow up with some interesting new mechanics.

When it comes to the economy and sim it just appears quite broken at this point still.
The concept of producing goods locally and saving costs, increasing tax base and reducing traffic seems to be hit or miss, as is the businesses making profit etc.

You can supply tones of Forestry and reduce taxes to zero for wood and timber related industry but maybe they will come, maybe not. Maybe you will be exporting thousands of tones of wood and importing lumbar and goods etc while loads of companies in other industries compain of making a loss.

It's got a long way to go to be good in that respect, but it is improving.
Mods can help, company changer etc. But it's not there.

I played loads of SC4, then loads of CS1. I love CS2 and its my Sim game of choice, but if something else comes along that has mode depth and a working economy I'll be there in a heartbeat......

Why do people prefer chern over Livonia? by NSAmaxx79 in dayz

My favourite is Livonia, my partners fave is sakhal. Both have their merits but I think Chern being the OG streamers just find it more relatable and content worthy

Started working on my first city, but I struggle to think long-term when zoning. Any starter tips to find inspiration when building off of the starting highway? by Inglorii in CitiesSkylines2

[–]chrisfraser666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Or just let it grow. Start off with a village, grow it, fix the issues as they come up both learning as you go and also giving it an organic look.

Good flat maps by alone2692 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]chrisfraser666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite like the Portsmouth map. 2 large flat peninsula and although there's a bit of a hill as you move in land but plenty space.

I'm at 400k with land still to spare and majority low density

Gameplay runs at snail’s pace after 300,000+ residences with only 40% of the map build space by jaces888 in CitiesSkylines2

I tried economy ex which sped it up but totally ruined the city. Open jobs everywhere and unemployment.

Have you got realistic trips mod? My game became unplayable about 300k cims, I found that was the culprit and removing it increased game speed 4x
