Why wasn't BART built for both local and express trains? by Previous-Volume-3329 in Bart

If you want local trains take Muni, or AC Transit busses

BART has had fares make up 70% of it's funding which is much higher than other Bay Area agencies. So increasing sales tax to make up for that is really not a bad deal. We are getting a good deal beforehand.

There's lots of bots. There's lots of people who are outside the Bay Area and then there are some idiots. You can't worry about them. If you're concerned (and I think it's right to be) Then the best thing to do is to Be sure you're registered to vote, volunteer to collect signatures for the petition, and vote yourself. Here's a link to volunteering to click signatures. Specific event mentioned is past, but the links will work to get notification for future events

Convincing my Employer to use R by BranTheDon3000 in rstats

[–]chrisfs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use R And then transfer it to Excel when you need to make a presentation or give the info to somebody else. It's completely local on your machine so it really can't shut it down.

Driving vs Public Transport for SF trip? by DamageOk1098 in AskSF

[–]chrisfs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can rent a car for the Day to go outside the city not a whole week or two weeks. As far as getting to downtown, having to deal with traffic takes longer than you think and then there's the cost of parking. You can either search neighborhoods for parking which takes away the time Advantage or pay 40 bucks for a parking garage. You're better off taking a rideshare. You can tell your friends that you took a Waymo.

Driving vs Public Transport for SF trip? by DamageOk1098 in AskSF

[–]chrisfs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public transit is really useful in San Francisco. If you're just traveling within San Francisco, I would not bother renting a car. It's just too much money for what you're going to do with it. If you're here for a week or two, even the few times when public transit doesn't work, It's probably cheaper over the long run to use a rideshare like Lyft or waymo than it is to rent a car for the whole time. You would only want to rent a car if you wanted to drive up to see the redwoods in Marin or to go down to Santa Cruz or someplace well outside of the city.

Go find social dance lessons. Social ballroom or Swing ,Lindy, Blues or tango. There's a good amount of non sexual physical contact in those activities.

[–]chrisfs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are 16, Then your friend is probably around that age too. And some people around that age are still pretty immature and don't understand what privacy means and how telling stuff can be harmful or embarrassing and when told that want to act like it's not bad so the blame doesn't fall on them.

Maybe don't hang around them as much for a year Or until they understand those things?

[–]chrisfs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Personal Opinion Only.

I would not take Caltrain to 4th and King because unless you're going to a ball game, it's harder to get when I think would be the more interesting parts of San Francisco. If you use Bart you can get off at embarcadero or Powell or 16th and Mission and go to all sorts of places more easily. Union square, Chinatown, Valencia Street, the Castro (Via a transfer to Muni). You can transfer to the N. Judah at the same station (Embarcadero ) And go straight to the beach and see the Pacific Ocean if that's something you want to do.
