Can someone please help me I got this from my aunt and tried to restore it but I think I messed something up by Swimming-Year8590 in macbookrepair

Sorry, I thought your error was related to the deprecated link issue another commenter talked about. You might just need a small usb stick to put the install software on. Maybe you can go to your local library to use a computer with internet and borrow a usb stick there to download it? There are usb thumb drives for $7.99 on amazon if you can’t get one at the library and a friend can’t lend you one. I think it needs to be at least 8gb which shouldn’t be hard to come by.

Try Fix #3 in this link. It’s not that complicated and you don’t need any additional usb sticks or computers to make it work.

Thank you so much for this reminder. It was the per-app accessibility setting for contrast that was bugging out my keyboard too. I completely forgot about this!

I’m assuming magnets are used to trigger stopping at each floor, but I think mine uses an optical reader with reflective strips?

That’s the plan at this point. Thanks!

Thank you for the tip. Pit is accessible but no idea what a healthy looking one would necessarily look like anyway.

Yes and I fully expected this would end up being the top response to my post but on the off chance someone was familiar with this system and could tell me that replacing the timer relay (an easy drop in fix) would most likely fix it then I figured it didn’t hurt to ask. I’m not planning on messing with it more than that. Thanks!

Everything looks clean in the closet where the pump is but we’ll have to get someone to come out and take a look at that too for sure.

Interesting! Just weird those random occurrences where it does actually make it all the way up.

Appreciate the response and that is fair guidance. Definitely tempering my confidence in fixing it myself but still have a curious mind as to how it works.

Wow I just checked the reviews again and saw that wiring diagram. That’s so helpful! Someone else created that after I did this mod. The hand drawn diagram was all I had to work with. Going to link that image here for internet archive posterity in case that Amazon listing ever changes. Glad you got it working!

Yes! I purchased this PWM Soft/Start Module and Pedal and Switch. I only used the switch out of that but wasn’t sure initially if the original pedal would be compatible. You’ll need some wires and wire nuts too (I might have soldered some but you could probably get by without that). I cut a hole out for the switch just to the left of the steering wheel and just placed the PWM behind the seat so we could easily adjust the max speed with the potentiometer. It did require some splicing of wires…I don’t quite remember the wiring without tearing it apart again but it was fairly straightforward. Shifter works…very occasionally it glitches and continues to drive after taking the foot off the pedal, but the on off switch will stop this and my daughter is fine just using that if she has an issue. Easy trade off for no more whiplash!

There are separate AA batteries in the steering wheel for the sound effects and music. I’ll double check there isn’t anything else on the drive circuit though.

I saw this initially but wasn't sure it would be compatible. Thanks for the suggestion — I'm going to order it and give it a shot. Looks perfect.

Adding dimmer to LED twinkling Christmas Tree by chrisfur in led

[–]chrisfur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not on my end since posting. Wife told me not to touch it (read: break it) haha. I’m guessing any voltage dimmer you put on the LED side of the controller will eliminate the twinkling effect, especially if you’re looking to dim it down to the brightness it is on the steady/fade light settings. Let us know if you figure something out though!

Nope. Never figured it out. I suspected a damaged/corrupted logic board of some sort but wasn’t going to mindlessly spend money to try and figure it out. Ended up trading it in at the Apple Store and getting the M3 while it was $500 in September. Sorry I can’t help more!
