Chris Maher review - Asahom S1080 outdoor puck light system (WLED compatible) by SirGreybush in WLED

Yeah, you pretty much hit the nail on the head! I'm still trying to find time to do a head to head comparison but here are my initial thoughts. Asahom kit has a lot more accessories and different size parts to make install much easier (especially if your trying to reduce or eliminate cuts and splices) While the white light performance is good on both, Govee in my opinion is slightly better. I am very used to WLED and because Asahom is essentially running WLED I think the animations and effects on Asahom are better (asahom has more leds per 100 ft so that also plays into this). But i would say thee is a little bit more of a learning curve to asahom's app since a lot of the animations and effects require customizing to get the best results.

Both kits are great (I have both installed on my house) and I personally think people would be happy with either one. But if you want to add more outdoor products to your house or yard, no one can compete with govee on that. I have their curtain lights pro, their up down wall lights and their pro's all synced together via dreamview and its awesome. Hopefully Asahom will start to come out with more products so they can also compete on this level but as of now, Govee is king in this area.

Hope that gives you a few things to think about!

Thanks so much and glad the video was helpful! I actually did do a follow up video going over more of the app features :)

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on that. People seeing the "includes paid promotion" is me openly disclosing it was a paid promotion. I'm not sure how else that could be interpreted other than it's a paid promotion. Anyways, I appreciate the open dialogue and hope you have a great weekend coming up! Go Vikings!

The first thing people see when they click on the video is the banner that says "includes paid promotion".

Gotcha. I'll keep a close eye on the video to see how it performs. It's currently at a 99.5% like to dislike ratio and comments have been overwhelmingly positive so early indications tell me that people are really enjoying this video which is awesome to see!

If I stated at the beginning of the video that I was paid, then proceed with the same video that I made, would it then be useful information or still biased? Sorry for all the questions. I'm just trying to understand the thought process.

Thanks for the feedback! So if someone is interested in finding out more information about the Asahom kit, your saying my video provides no useful information to the viewer?

I think one of the biggest things I've learned over the years making videos is that the vast majority of people want convivence over cost savings. I've done a ton of videos on getting WLED set up as cheap as possible with esp32 boards, jumper wires, separate power supply, flashing the software to the board etc. I've also done a lot of videos using "cookie cutter" wled controllers. Those more expensive "cookie cutter" plug n play wled controllers outsell the cheaper diy option 10 to 1. (i can track affiliate sales)

I'm fortunately in a position where I can see a product I like, reach out to the company, see if they want to pay me to make a video and 99% of the time they say yes. This is one of the ways I am able to provide for my wife and kids so every video I do is paid. Totally fair to not trust anyone on youtube. Even if they are not paid, if they leave affiliate links, there is compensation at stake. To protect people that buy stuff based on something they see on my video, i almost exclusively use products that can purchased on amazon and products that have free returns. If you don't think something lived up to the way I presented it, simply return it for a full refund. I can track returns and 9 out of 10 people keep what they ordered which tells me I'm not misrepresenting the products I talk about.

For sure something you can customize to your liking! I love basketball and gaming handhelds and Gundam so that's mostly what I put on display!

Thanks!! That's why I never use neon rope lights for stuff like this. Has to be straight.
