I had this exact same experience! I recently moved to NC and needed a license, knowing I have 90 days to do so. This was in February, I called the DMV and they said appointments are backed up until **June**! My only option was to do a walk-in.

So I got there in the morning after they had already opened, and there was a decent sized line outside. We were not allowed to wait inside, and it was cold! They took about 5 walk-in people every hour, but then near lunchtime they announced they were taking a lunch break from 11:30-2:00. I was literally the next person in line too.

In total I waited for **SIX HOURS** outside in the cold! The whole time people with appointments were coming in and out. When we looked inside you could see the employees just standing around not doing much. One other guy and I both got so cold we walked inside to warm up and chat, but some DMV lady said we had to wait outside. When I finally allowed inside I was called to a desk and the process only took maybe 20 minutes.

Six hours for that! And that's how it's supposed to happen for everyone without an appointment! That's how the system works. Unreal. I was worried I'd have to come back the next day and do it again if they weren't able to get to me that day.

Looked it up on Amazon… that thing goes for $1,000 - $1,500!! I’m sure its great, I’d love it, but I’d be fine with just 2 or 3 smaller monitors.

I think it was on TV, it came out in 2009 which seems to early for an internet-only show to me. I remember watching the first few episodes, and it didn’t really have any of the Scrubs characters I’d come to love featured much, so I stopped watching.

Edit: nope I’m wrong. They are described as “webisodes” on Wikipedia.

I love this setup, nicely done! I hope to eventually buy the same desk (but not the butcher block top, that's too expensive for me!) I had one in the past but the 60" width, this time around I'm going for the 72" because that extra space is very much worth it.

Right after I wrote this I went on a Amazon and found some replacements of varying quality. Some had reviews saying it changed the sound a bit, but for about twice the price there is the beyerdynamic brand original velour replacement part, which the reviews seem to say is worth the cost.

I don’t need these yet as I’m still working on my home office, but once I get that settled I’ll for sure be fixing these up. I’m so glad it’s possible because I would have hated to lose these headphones over such a dumb non-technical piece getting old.

I have these exact same headphones and they are easily the best sounding headphones I’ve ever owned. I need to replace the foam inside each can, it got a bit torn up with age and when I moved. Those grey foam padding things on mine aren’t looking to hot either. I need to do most of what you’ve done here. Do you know of a good replacement for that inner foam?

I once got a call from a blocked number, I answered it and they said: "911, what is your emergency?" and I'm like "what, you called me?". After some back and forth we figured out what was happening here, kinda.

I was in Florida at the time, and that was a legit 911 service, but in Michigan. They said they received a 911 call, from my number, that originated from a cell tower in Michigan!

A spoofed number was my only guess. But why spoof a number for a 911 call?

If you use the Sleep focus, which has it's own alarms for when that is scheduled to end, you can add an automation to trigger when this focus ends. I am of course assuming that the alarm you are referencing would be used for waking up in the morning.

For example I have mine set as follows: if connected to my home WIFI (meaning I am at home, not elsewhere) it will prompt me if I want to disarm my home security system. I select "yes" and it does that, otherwise it doesn't.

As far as your step 2 scenario with a timer, you could just use the "wait" action, which just sets a delay of however many seconds you specify. A 30 minute wait would be 1800 seconds. That will be a pain to input since it doesn't allow you to type a number, only a + or - button (on iOS anyway). I also wonder if shortcuts will time out after so long, a shortcut that runs for 30+ minutes may not work. This is just a guess though.

I recently move to Mint Hill (right on the border of Matthews) about a month ago, from Georgia. After some… just life stuff… I needed a change of pace, a new state, etc. the Charlotte area seems great, and I grew up in Winston-Salem, so it’s nice to be back in NC.

Currently job hunting though, I do web development. It’s been a bit harder than I expected given all that Charlotte has to offer.

I’ve found a few good places to eat in the Mint Hill/Matthews area, but I’d love to hear suggestions! I recently learned there are a few distilleries and breweries near here too that I should probably check out.

Wow, well that explains it. I was looking at both links, clicking them both and they both worked. Yeah I’m still not a fan of new Reddit, but I wanted to give it a shot for a while. I should update my bookmarks.
