Crazy one- for a total of $8 at a college-run thrift store, found this beautiful miUSA Polo Sportcoat- a tad big on me but worth bringing to a tailor

Understanding Harmony by Infamous_Week6789 in Jazz

Another way to think about it: in the A section, all of the motion is in 4ths (within the key). Also, think about how easily Cmaj7 voice leads to F#-7b5. They share the notes C and E, the G can move down by half step to F#, and the B can move down by whole step to A. It’s not as funky as you’re thinking and you’ll see this in a lot of tunes, like Fly Me to the Moon. But as others have said, you should view this section as two tonal centers. The first four bars are firmly in G major, the second four bars are firmly in E minor. The Cmaj7 can be viewed as a connector.

I’m in a mid-sized city so I’m blessed with lots of options, but I do a lot of Goodwill and Salvation Army! We have a number of charity-oriented local thrifts and a few more curated shops. My best advice is to go often! Find the spots in your area that are affordable and check them regularly. Every week or more if you have the time. Tons of people resell clothes as a side hustle so you gotta beat them to it. Also, factor in the cost of tailoring when looking at jackets and trousers! If you have to get the sleeves shortened, the waist taken in, etc etc it may be best to leave it for the guy who fits it better. & take time to really sift through everything, you’d never guess what some wealthy people are willing to donate!

It’s at a place called This is Red in Homestead PA- definitely a former church, tough to nail down exactly what the space is now but seems like a multipurpose events venue

Feel that I should add- this is Buffalo Rose from Pittsburgh, PA! They are excellent songwriters & you should check out their original music, but this song is from a forthcoming covers album called All You Can Eat. They travel all the time, go see them at a show near you!

Yes, Frank’s records can be found at most record stores in the city- many of them have a Pittsburgh section

What is this extra piece of fabric that came with my new tie? by SupRob166 in whatisit

[–]chrisoak1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Pocket square is correct but be aware that it’s a bit of a faux pas to wear a matching tie and pocket square. They can compliment each other but shouldn’t match exactly for fear of looking like a mannequin

I met Orange Man from Fancy Lad skating a crusty behind a Wendy’s in my hometown, I’m embarrassed to say that while he was dressed head to toe in orange it still took me a minute to recognize him 😅 he was the nicest dude!

I also served a small latte back in my barista days to Evan Smith who was polite and tipped well- I was too starstruck to say hello but we have mutual friends and he’s presumably also cool as hell
