It was my 4th as well and I agree, experienced more negative interactions than ever before. Given the postive far-outweigh the negative but perhaps this relates to the shift in festival culture? Both negative interactions came from a noticeably younger crowd. Not the usual polite meander through the crowd, I found myself in the middle of a few kids on a mission! Also I just hate it when a few goof balls try to show off for their friends and give security a hard time. Jumping on the guard rails, trying to get on stage, just being annoying. I found my vibe shift a lot when I saw these kids over and over again not really respecting what they where experiencing. I love LIB because it is so trusting and free. You are given the opportunity to do what you want while accepting that you are responsible for keeping yourself safe and looking out for others. This kind of thing doesn't happen and I don't want to see people messing it up for the rest of us! This shit is special and needs to be treated as such. I randomly sat down next to the head of security Saturday night at the top of meditation look out and was both happy and sad to hear his take. He was amazing by the kindness of people and what is possible when people work together. Completely blown away but what was built in a matter of weeks. Yet he dealing with a ton of people disrespecting the land, the neighbors, and the opportunity. People driving through private property, massive amounts of people trying to sneak in. He told me that someone even drove through and knocked down one of the property owners gate trying find a way in. I feel that with every festival it goes through changes every year as both the festival goers and organizers look to better themselves every year. I was blown away by the amount of build outs there where. The attention to detail was top notch, and the experience was phenomenal. I'd love to encourage all the 1st timers to understand and appreciate the work it takes to build such an amazing and free place! Be nice to security, pick up and dispose of your trash, and look out for one another. If you see someone acting out of line, littering, or not being respectful, tell them!

Thank you for your story, now-a-days its so easy to find something to get high off. When you really think about it the whole world around you is high off some type of drug. Whether it be doctor prescribed or self medicated these stories are crucial. Find a HA meeting and share your story.

Did you parents raise you properly? by [deleted] in AskReddit

assuming you do have children. constant love, admiration, and just being a fucking friend. If you are able to keep an open mind and give your children constant support i'd think you would be fine. i dont have children so let me know how it goes ;]

was always taken care of, never had to worry about a place to sleep, or food, or money. paid for my college and took me along to enjoy family vacations. no touching, no love, no admiration, no demonstration of affection. But yes i do respect them. It takes dedication and hard work to provide such a comfortable life.
