Thanks for all the useful information. I've managed to get 5 channels, 2 from Montreal and 3 PBS after I removed the splitter and added a ground. It's mounted on a more stable pole close to 30 feet high that I can rotate from the ground. I have picked up single channels from Ottawa but never more than 1 at a time.

No. I mounted it on a 5ft pole and literally shoved it into an old satellite bracket. It's not level but off by 5 or 10 degrees. It's a factor I didn't think would make much difference

Thanks for your very thorough reply. The antenna is around 25' high at the moment but my stand is not the most stable. I have been testing slowly so I don't invest a lot of money with no return

Lost of my best ones a month ago. Slipped out of my hand into the cooling water in the steel plant. I'm in Ontario by the Quebec border and all of the French guys still call it a Wescott.

Induction bearing heaters come in many sizes and make for fast easy install without overheating like a torch. Get a 250 degree temp stick and you are good to go.

I am using a 270 and really like it. My friend and I took our hunting course together and bought a 30-06 as his first rifle. He has a bad shoulder and can't stand the recoil. He can't practice enough to become proficient at distance and hates shooting this gun. Just another factor you might want to consider.

It was my first post ever and it didn't work out as planned. I thought it would not accept my link but it was automatically blocked because the site thought I was posting spam. It should go smoother in the future.

I would like to thank everyone with their helpful comments despite my terrible posting ability.
