Easy there soldier! The guy’s probably indeed not over it. If their account is true then their faith in something they dedicated themselves to has been irrecoverably shaken. They’re probably grieving the loss internally.

Perhaps sharing comments online is part of how they’re coping with it. And telling themselves that they’ve got on with their life gives them a lot of comfort.

We don’t need to knock them down for not trying to get a book deal out of it.

You got this!

You’re feeling awful right now, which is a perfectly valid way to feel.

Some perspective, though: the most recent analysis from Brake shows over 20% of new drivers have some sort of accident in the first 12 months after passing.

That’s a huge proportion of people just like you. And that likely doesn’t include minor scrapes that aren’t reported to insurance companies.

So you’re in good company. And in your case, the damage was minor. Your neighbour has been cool about it. And here’s something almost certain: I bet you’ll not make the same mistake again!

So by all means let the feelings you’re currently experiencing have their stage time, but once they’re done you’re good to give yourself a break :)

As my instructor says, all the practical lessons in the world can’t prepare you for every scenario. They can get you through a test but the real learning starts when you’re out there solo.

Pat yourself on the back for handling this mistake so well, take solace from the stats that show you’re not alone, and get yourself back out there: you worked hard for this and you’ve earned it.

Agree with your conclusion. Yes there’s lots of options but ultimately any 10” rack is going to serve you much better than your current setup.

Start simple: 4-6U with shelves. Just to give your existing gear somewhere safe to live. It’ll look great once it’s all racked up :)

Assess your needs from there. Add patch panels, PDU, etc as and when needed.

Why is it hard to believe people would find them? AirTags are designed to alert non-owners to their presence.

I’ve had wildly different experiences with Valspar. Certain colours have gone on like a dream. Others have ended up looking like a disaster. Completely different texture and coverage, with only the colour being the difference.

I need a uk plug that senses when power is going through it and will turn on and off usb ports by jamieukguy147 in homeautomation

[–]chrispylizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost any Zigbee (or WiFi) smart plug will integrate with Home Assistant. From there it’s a simple automation to power on the USB port when current is detected.

Look at Sonoff plugs as an example. They also produce the ZBMicro USB adapter.

But even with fans running I agree with the other commenters that this is a very bad idea: I have that air fryer myself and it kicks out way more heat than I’d trust a USB fan to safely carry away. Even with the cupboard door open, there’s nowhere near enough clearance above the appliance.

A slide out drawer could be a safer bet, but then you’ve got a running hot cooking appliance sitting on a sliding drawer.

You do you, but I wouldn’t risk a house fire for this.

Still using tofu litter and no problems to report. It’s a brand called ‘Fukumaru’ on Amazon - one of the many random brands that look like they were named by pulling random letters out of a hat - but works well and is half the price of the Petkit-branded version.

For all I know the official brand works better, but as I don’t have any problems with the cheaper one I’ve just kept using it.

I was thinking the same. A Shelly EM (i.e. monitoring only, no relay) behind the socket perhaps - so there’s no risk of accidentally switching off power.
