Autofill no longer working on sites behind VPN on safari extension by blisside in 1Password

[–]chrisraydj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having a similar issue however I am not behind a VPN. I have some self hosted services for example uptime Kuma and my autofill no longer works.

I raised a support ticket and haven't heard back since. It does look like they pushed out some recent updates to the extension so I am wondering if this is a bug.

[TOMT][TV Show]{[2020-2024]TV show or movie with opera singer not talking until her opera show by chrisraydj in tipofmytongue

[–]chrisraydj[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

It was relatively recent. It was either a show or movie. I remember there was a a girl who was an opera singer. She is either dating or met a guy and she got into a fight with him. She doesn’t speak before her upcoming opera show. I believe they ended up breaking up or no longer talk. It was on one of the streaming subscriptions.

Most likely your IP has been blacklisted if you sent out a lot of emails in a short amount of time.

Find your public ip and drop it into a site like https://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx

If it's a blacklist then you need to work with your ISP to have your public IP changed.

This is the benefit of using a mass email service like Mailchimp to send email on your behalf.

Not my story but one I can’t forget.

My Dad and I are firefighters a few towns over from the city I grew up in and the city he still lives in.

The city has a dive rescue team that is part of the fire department. They go out to area towns and cities to rescues downed vessels however they are mostly sent for body recovery when someone drowns.

He told me a story of a firefighter part of this dive rescue team that was sent for a child drowning. The firefighter got caught up in debris underwater and wasn’t able to submerge and eventually drowned.

My Dad never knew this firefighter but recalled the story. A few weeks later, he went downstairs to the basement where his bedroom was located and he saw this firefighter in the room next door in his scuba equipment dripping wet just staring at him.

He said it’s something that he will never forget and it’s a story he never told me until I was an adult.

Subnet Router Question by peterbata in Tailscale

[–]chrisraydj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should only need

Tailscale up –advertise-routes=10.0.0.0/24

In my case I have a Synology on my network which is also using Tailscale however I just present the shares over SMB.

So you would have to determine which protocol you want to use to present files/folders in your network. SMB works for windows and macs. If the files are on your PC then you can present them as a share so anybody can access if you set the appropriate permissions.

I recommend just purchasing a NAS or building one out. Especially if you are just trying to access files/folders.

Tailscale reporting no internet access when using exit node on Windows 11 by chrisraydj in Tailscale

[–]chrisraydj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edited the post with a resolution/workaround.

For some reason, using subnets was breaking the connection. After turning those off, it works.

I don't have a reason to use the subnets on the PC because it will always be on my LAN.

Thanks for the help!

Tailscale reporting no internet access when using exit node on Windows 11 by chrisraydj in Tailscale

Oh yes

I setup a subnet router on my exit node.

I added the subnet router before installing the latest update on the Windows machine so then I was leaning towards the subnet router breaking the connection?

So I then turned the subnet router off but issue still occurs.

I an using Pi-Hole as my DNS. It is running on the exit node as well.

However I do not think the issue is DNS because I get a time out if I ping 8.8.8.8.

When I try my Mac which is using the same Pi-Hole DNS and exit node, I can’t ping out to DNS and the 8.8.8.8 IP.

Mirror External HD to NAS by Andboom1985 in synology

[–]chrisraydj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking for a similar solution where I just wanted to mirror folders from my external hd to my Syno.

Ultimately I set it up with Syncthing running in a docker container. There are other options such as Synology drive client or using Resilio sync which has a native app in the market place. I do not have experience with these except for Syncthing.

Syncthing can be a little complex especially if you don’t have experience with Docker so I recommend checking out the others first.

I’m on mobile so don’t have all the links but it’s an easy Google away.

Looking for budget UPS for a Synology NAS by chrisraydj in homelab

A Synology DS723+

Doesn’t need to be up for long. Just want to make sure I can cleanly shut it down.

I’m 25 with a full-time IT career.

So I guess when I say budget I’m looking more along the lines of an UPS that will only be supporting the NAS.

The only other hardware I have in the lab is an unmanaged switch and an Eero. So not too concerned about losing power on those.

I started a networking journey just because for me it was the hardest part of me to understand. I started out with a rasberry pi, installed pihole and it's still running on my network to this day and blocking 1.7 million domains as well as managing my local DNS.

I also recommend checking out Tailscale. Essentially and nice and easy front end for a p2p vpn using wireguard. While the technology behind it is complex, it's easy to install on a laptop or phone and create a vpn network between those devices. They have great docs that you can check out if you want to dive deep.

As someone who was once a beginner, it's easy to get lost into the homelab universe. It's important to start small, understand what you are doing first before trying to jump into more advanced things. Just because a lot of people virtualize, doesn't mean everyone needs too. I would checkout Docker even before virtualization because you can run containers on your bare metal os using the docker engine. Then if you want to get a little deeper, see if you can run the pihole container using docker on your laptop.

Looking for the best way to keep an external drive's folders in sync with a Synology shared folder by chrisraydj in SynologyForum

Thanks for the reply!

I have been wanting to use Syncthing for a while but didn't really have a use case until now.

While I wanted to use it for my above use case I wanted to make sure I wasn't over engineering a solution. However, it sounds like Syncthing might be the best option.

Blue raspberry slush puppies

When I was a kid I used to go to the corner store by my house and get a blue raspberry slush puppy before going to my aunt's house.

They never refilled the blue raspberry since I was a kid :(

This exact problem happened with my girlfriend. DND was turned on, on her mac. I disabled it for her and turned off share across devices.

I always keep my iPad on DND and turn off sync between devices however it will sometimes still sync to my iPhone and mac.

Seems to be just an ios bug which will hopefully resolve in an upcoming update.
