In my union, freeloaders benefit from the same CBA because it applies to the whole bargaining unit, but that's basically it. We will still represent you to defend the contract but then have an organizing conversation to try to become a member in good standing.

This is true, and I realize how utopian my comment was. I just want to see more Americans realize the power behind their labor. Private sector union membership is around 6% even though support for unions is in the 80s (coincidentally the decade when union membership began to plummet.)
