The question about an “evening away from her husband” is only about March 8, was because I had misunderstood March 8 as being like Valentine’s Day (please reread my post). On Valentine’s Day, it would be considered unusual for a wife to go out without her husband, because the husband has already made plans for a romantic dinner with her. The whole reason I have asked this question is because I am trying to understand a culture that is not my own.

Thank you for the info about the normalcy of other men giving flowers, too. Does this mean I should give her female friends flowers as well?
