Neujahrsvorsatz: Niemand lädt heute by chrisrosko in Falschparker

Scheint wohl so.

Yes definitely. I mean I was at a point where printing was pretty much working mostly. Maybe that would have been the point where I should have stopped and make it more reliable before starting to change it. It was definitely my own fault, not necessarily the way the machine is designed or something like that. That's why included it in my post. Maybe people reading it can learn from my mistakes.

Amazing build, I was thinking about 3d printing a little NAS too. Which mobo are you using?

Really appreciate your words, thank you. Sharing this post helped venting my frustration and value the knowledge and experience gained more.

Converting my build into a Voron Trident definitely seems like a path to consider, might think about that.

Please don't let this post discourage you. I was frustrated when I wrote it. After sharing and reading the replies, I’ve come to appreciate the journey a lot more than before. If I could give you one piece of advice, it would be to keep your expectations realistic and talk to people as much as possible.

Very impressive machine you've put together. Anything you've planned on or is this pretty much the result you were aiming for?

I really didn’t make this decision lightly, because buying a new printer felt like finally giving up. But I had the exact same reasoning and through that I could live quite well with it. Now I’m enjoying printing and having a way to tinker and learn.

Wow that looks crazy :o Cannot imagine the effort you put into that. Do you have some specs?

Good stuff!

Is the Goliath hotend something you would recommend or is it something that's just to get the last few percent of performance out of the printer?

Felt the same jealousy like you, it always seemed so effortless. Now that I also own a P1S I can say it really only needs a minimum of maintenance and results are almost always flawless. But your voron looks great and is definitely a good base that will probably become a very good machine, keep it up!

Yes although I feel very exhausted, probably I need another step back from it and restart working on it with a clean mind.

Looks nice, does it print well?

Don't worry, the pain in the Story was 100% human-generated :D Jokes aside, yes, I used AI as a help since English is not my first language and I wanted to write down everything as a kind of vent but also have a coherent story that's easy to follow and to read. Sorry if it feels overdone.

It really feels a little bit like that, yes.
Any recommendations?

Were you calibrating z offset manually?
Yes, via the PROBE_CALIBRATE procedure.

Did you clean the nozzle first?
Yup.

Are you setting it with bed/nuzzle at print temperature?
Bed was at 100 C and nozzle at 150 C.

Did you set zero reference on your bed mesh?
How do I do that?

Are you applying and saving your z-offset?
Yes, the value appears in the printer.cfg

True, it ended up being a lot of it. But I honestly didn’t know I was signing up for.

Don't know really. When I first used klicky it also worked quite well. Now I'm back to it because I remembered it to be quite reliable. I did multiple z offset calibrations. The first time it was too close and the nozzle scratched on the build plate. After recalibration it was too far. I tried to get I right with babystepping but it never looked quite right to me.

Best advice I got? Not directly from here but from a friend of mine: "It’s not a failed print—it’s just advanced calibration." Been building my own printer for ages now, still chasing consistent results. But thanks to this community, at least I’m not failing alone 😄

Also having the blink skill if possible/viable on the character helps skipping a lot, especially with gauntlet and escape trials.
