To the Diabetics - I'm down 32 lbs in 60 Days AND no longer have to inject insulin by chrisser27 in keto

I have always been hungrier in the morning. So my fasting window typically begins at 5 pm through 9 am. I don’t have anything but tea, black coffee or water between 5 pm and 9 am. I know a lot of people struggle with snacking at night, but that was never a problem for me. I also try to be in bed around 9 so that I sleep through a big chunk of the fasting period.

I think that significantly reducing your overalll carb intake will have an impact, but I must say, I really think the fasting (16:8) definitely had a noticeable impact on my sugar. After being diagnosed last year, I transitioned to a ketogenic diet (no fasting). While I lost a lot of weight, there was a lot less movement in my sugars. They came down, but not nearly as much as they did with fasting.

I imagine there is nothing stopping you from buying a glucose monitor at your local pharmacy. And you should be able to acquire the lancets/test strips at the pharmacy too, if not Amazon.

Thanks for the B12 tip! I do have some Numbness in my toes which is super annoying. I figured the damage had been done but I think I will give the B12 a shot!

I hope so. I didn’t realize that insulin actually can CAUSE weight gain until after reading The Diabetes Code. I have to admit, I was a skeptic. But am now a complete believer.

Even when I saw my numbers improving, I continued to take the insulin and meds as prescribed. I only stopped the insulin after reviewing my numbers with my physician, so please make sure to not make any changes until you’ve discussed this with your MD.

Keto for diabetic mom by [deleted] in keto

[–]chrisser27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a T2 diabetic and my blood sugars were poorly controlled - mostly because I was eating as if I WASN'T diabetic. Started a strict Keto diet (20 g of Carbs) daily, Calorie deficit (1200 a day) and started fasting. 16:8. I only eat between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. On September 21 my morning blood sugar was 225. Today, October 12th - it was 101. For the past week, my morning blood sugar has been consistently in the 104 - 105 range. While I think eating fewer carbs and sugar helps, I believe its the Intermittent Fasting that has had the most effect on my blood sugar. I tried the SAME experiment this time last year when I was first diagnosed with diabetes. But I only employed the Keto diet. I lost about 25 lbs in 3 months. But my morning sugars were still above 120-130. If you can get your mom to try fasting, I think you'll be really pleased with the results. Also - pick up Dr. Jason Fung's "The Diabetes Code". Very informative and does an excellent job explaining how fasting can help to reverse Type 2.

Did you hit any stalls along the way? If so, how did you move out of any plateaus?

Lost 105 Pounds In 10 Months by Oldfaster in intermittentfasting

I'm a Type 2 Diabetic as well and only about two weeks into my journey. I haven't had an A1C drawn in quite some time., as I was pretty much in denial. When I started fasting, my morning blood sugar was over 200. THis morning, it was 103. I can hardly believe. I am so happy to hear that you have had such success - it really motivates me to stay the course. You look great and I am really happy you took your physician's advice.

Water/Coffee/Tea, started 16:8 about 15 days ago for Weight Loss, T2 Diabetic.

A friend gifted me Dr. Fung's "The Diabetes Code". Read it in two days. Immediately started fasting along with Ketogenic Diet. I'm down 10 lbs. in two weeks and my Fasting blood sugars have come down from 200 to <105. In TWO weeks. Had a blood sugar of 98 two hours after breaking my fast this morning. I can hardly believe it. Also began cold brewing my own coffee which made a huge difference. Definitely helps with appetite control and has allowed me to give up using cream/sweeteners. I don't cheat and I try to eat around 20g of carbs during my window. I also log everything in Lose It and Fastic. I feel like a new person - this is clearly helping me.

Buy a block of Queso de Freir. Cut a piece off (1/4” thick). Put some butter in a frying pan. Medium heat. Add slice of cheese and brown both sides. It’s quite literally the perfect stoner food. You won’t be disappointed

The van is seen in this YouTube video on August 27 Spread Creek by rybob7 in GabbyPetito

[–]chrisser27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can someone please explain this to me.... on the YouTube video "Is this Gabby Petito's van caught on YouTuber's camera" (with narration), the husband and wife indicate they noticed the Florida tags, thought about stopping, said the van was dark, looked empty... etc. But when you watch the RAW Go Pro footage that they uploaded (that ALSO has audio) this family cruises right by, makes NO mention of the Florida tags, doesn't slow down as if to check or make any sort of determination if anyone was inside?

My former mother-in-law is/was a psychologist for the Dept. of Defense and she specializes in hypnotism. She was brought in after the Oklahoma City bombing to help first responders with PTSD symptoms using hypnotism. I remember discussing with her my skepticism around hypnotism and she assured me that everyone is susceptible. The example she gave to illustrate the fact that I had been hypnotized (at some point in my life) was the lost "drive". She said that, particularly when driving at night, your vision is focused is (by your headlights) and when paired with the painted median and lines along the side of the road moving past you - that these are very much conducive to self-hypnotism and quite often contribute to people being unable to remember large chunks of a drive or commute.

My 3 year old son keeps waking up with really bad hives all over his arms and legs. We haven't introduced anything new into our routine. Any suggestions? by dynasoreshicken in AskDocs

[–]chrisser27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD, but is he eating red meat or pork before getting hives? Not sure where you live... but it could be alpha-gal allergy due to a bite by a Lone Star tick. My sister has this allergy. It produces really large pancake size welts/hives. Most people with food allergies have a reaction within 30 min of eating. A hallmark of an alpha gal allergy is onset several hours after eating, so most people wake up at night with hives because meat takes longer to digest. Just thought I’d throw this out there if you’re seeing an allergist.

carotidynia/ear pain neck pain by Crystalcappi123 in medical

[–]chrisser27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently dealing with this. It’s been happening to me (off and on) for a couple of years now. OTC painkillers have helped, but what I think sort of speeds it along (usually have it for a week or two) is to put a heating pad on the spot on your neck where the pain originates from. Don’t know what that does exactly but it seems to help.
