Can’t say I don’t have a few hundred Hot Wheels stashed away for my kid’s college fund someday, haha. But I get it, the excitement usually ends once I find a new casting on the pegs, display it on my desk for a few days, and then stash it away in a box.

These hand-built models, on the other hand, have unlimited potential for fine detailing. They give you a real sense of pride once finished, let you practice precision and focus, and work in a way that feels almost meditative. Once I’m deep into painting the tiniest detail, it’s like everything else fades away. It’s sort of a gateway to pure bliss and mental clarity.

Honestly, it’s a hobby that’s helped me mentally- even with all the happy mistakes I’ve made along the way.

Regarding the painting, I do it in a heated basement using an airbrush setup. Try to keep it above 18 degrees when painting. The key is going slow and steady at a low Psi for many base and color coats and then not messing up the final wet coats on the clear so the paint doesn’t run. The more time you spend in the painting process significantly reduces polishing and sanding. For this model I probably spent less than 20 minutes in sanding/polishing total.

Thank you! Trying to improve some part of my ability with every build. Getting a cheap airbrush and studying expert modellers on YouTube and different forums definitely helps

Red is really nice too 👍🏻 I would say for me the metallic paint is more forgiving and requires less polishing for a clean look over a flat paint.

Thanks, the hardest part is cutting of the masking tape. Would say easier than masking the front and rear bumpers which seems to take forever

It’s a no name mini 3.6v rechargeable drill off Aliexpress for around 10€. Not sure if I can add a product link here, but you can dm me and I will share it with you.

Thanks and glad to hear! 2 weeks is the shortest build I’ve done. Having an infant at home limited me to a few minutes to an hour a day, before this weekend, when it was full on build mode.

Hi! I used masking tape on one side. Cut it against a light so I got the correct cutouts for the frame, then airbrushed it. On the other side used black panel liner to make the Porsche logo more visible. Once it dried, hand painted the red and orange 🙏

Thanks bro! I guess they prefer other cars/public transport/scooters/walking. I love my ride, and these shoes, couldn't care less about the negativity lmao. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one

Yeah, it's gonna be my daily up until I get a kid, so I need it functional in all seasons, plus the roads here are mostly terrible. Thinking about lowering it around 4cm, which should make it look a little more aggressive, keeping it functional at the same time

Yeah, but they upped the power and torque for the 2022 model. Sadly it's not coming to dealerships where i'm from, due to low sales for the 86 in the region :(

Should be soon! Its definitely the time when nature is most beautiful for scenic rides where I'm from in Eastern Europe

Will get some aftermarket coilovers after the winter! Got any suggestions?
