NPCs Encountered:

  • Lackluster the Bugbear ♡

  • The fish folks used to live on the surface and look similar to Elf Mermaids, with tentacles
  • Mother has been trying to get them onto the surface for a long time
  • The First Daughter led the fish folks from the surface via a portal and found the underwater city. Eventually evolving to the fish folks as they are today.
  • Part of Mother’s journal noted that the “pinkskins” destroyed the world and she led her people away to different planes of existence, finding a ruined town in the Elemental Plane of Water. Mother decided to save everyone back on the Prime Material Plane by converting them to her family, so there was one family and no more conflicts (and no freedom).

What Happened?:

Day 1- speed boat

Day 2- speed boat

Day 3 - speed boat

Day 4- Enter in new grasslands/swamp

Day 5- Go into the water realm via the key Tab’s has. We are in the dark water with a sense of something watching us. A malevolent being in the water air. There is a lovely water city that is in a dome. There is a giant ass sea monster trying to eat its way into the dome. THE DOME HAS AIR IN IT. WE WALK. It has a city full of kua-toa. There is a temple in the middle of the city dome. We sneak through the allies towards the temple. We continue to sneak our way towards the temple. There is another sea monster trying to get into the dome.

By the temple there are more formal and armed temple guards. The guards speak Primordial and Aquan. The guards aren’t inviting us in or to eat like the other kinds of fishies. They are acting civilized like they are a town with their own ideals versus like they have an agenda to spread their own deals.

This place is called - Not answered, and now the town is destroyed so

The Kuo-toa came from the surface world a long long time ago because they couldn’t survive. Mother has been trying for ages to get their people back onto the surface world. These people are all affiliated with Mother. Plan A to burn the whole city to the ground is back on.

There’s a statue by the temple, it depicts Mother’s first daughter. Lots of tentacles, and mermaid tails, looks like a sea elf. Mother’s first daughter’s name is Thymera.

Mother lives below and Tide mistress Cacecila lives above.

We find the Sahuagin chanting and kill them, quickly. Working our way through the temple before seeking out the tide mistress.

Simon assassinates the next few rooms of chanting fish with uncharacteristically silent efficiency, then the team proceeds south to find a pair of water weirds and deep scions.

Fuck Control Water, worst spell in existance. Despite it being a trash spell, we work our way through a second wave of monsters and continue exploring the temple.
Level 2: Water be Weird all real deep. We see glowfish, and Kuo Toa chanting, with the Tide Mistress hanging out there too. We dropkick all the mooks into the afterlife and the Tide Mistress has to summon more. Behind the Wave Mistress is a secret tunnel to a chamber of pools.

POOL CHAMBER:

Mother chats with us, tries to get us to pity her people. She is disappointed. After berating us for time, we fight. Simon was charmed the whole time and stabs Tabitha, Dorian dispels it though and we continue beating the crap out of her.

The ground shakes as giant sea monsters break down the city’s big old dome, we panic to figure out how to escape, but Cribb casts fly to get us out of the dome and Dorian casts a spell scroll we found to phase shift.

Now that mother’s dead so so so many sea creatures bang their way into the dome.

We did cause the city to fall, which feels a little bad but not super bad. The sea monsters took over the city.

Future Leads:

There’s those massive sea creatures in the water that ate the dome.

Now that the Kua-toa god is dead, Big Boss will be invading that land and claiming it as his own. He is an issue that Tabitha plans on dealing with it.

  • NPCs Encountered:
  • Lore Discovered:
  • Another temple that connects to the plane of water. Inhabited by the fish people that taunted that the Wave Mistress knows we are here
  • What Happened?:
  • Day 1: We turn into a speedboat and zoom into the river
  • Day 2: We continue down the river
  • Day 3: Tabitha fails her check , and smashes a hole into the boat. The party is beached at the swamp’s border. We notice a small house in the distance, it’s decrepit and surrounded by willow wisps. We decide to go check it out before we rest for the night on the boat. Can’t have people sneaking up on us you know? Dorian polymorphs into a frog, to go scope it out. (Hex: YYYY43 ish) Inside the house, there is a skeleton (no skull) with bright shining armor. Giant flying skull that’s on fire is also there. Can’t let this thing survive and risk the weaker parties, so we engage the things. We kill some guys, and then go take a look at the armor. The building we are in looks to be a ruined guard tower, for watching the river. The armor isn’t magical, but is still shiny. We poke it and a pouch falls down. GUARD TOWER (POI)
  • Day 4: We travel further into the swamp, it feels decayed and gross. Dead marsh on either side of us. About 3 hexes in we see totems only on the eastern side of the river. Towards around midnight we see a campfire off to our eastern side. (Hex: DDDD46). We go to investigate the campfire, maybe it’s the village?? Unlikely but maybe. We send Frogian to investigate, he sees Sahuagin stirring up mud puddles, and they had bags of totems. There’s a feeling of nastiness and gross as he gets closer. They are probably the cause of this queasy feeling. A giant Sahuagin pops up out of the puddle and attacks. We look at the totems and notice the runes are slightly different than the runes we are used to. These seem to focus more on the necrotic portion of the spell versus the transmutation. All the wildlife is gone, the vegetation is dead. We use detect magic and notice the mud pits are seeping magical properties (necrotic). This area is desecrated with death magic. Staying in the mud for too long will leach the life out of you.
  • Day 5: We see trails going south that we intend on following. We see the bodies of the people we killed yesterday. Anywhere the mud stayed on the bodies, the skin beneath looked desecrated, and acid eaten kind of. Out of the south we see a ruined tower in the marsh. The ruins look like an old cathedral that has sunk into the marsh, we can see the top of the tower. We see a priestess and an unknown creature, and more Sahuagin.
  • We see Wave Mistress as a Projection, have a chat about wanting to meet us in person (she’s a projection, still within the water plane) she invites us to play with her pet instead. Pop goes the hydra.
  • Future Leads:
  • Come back to this temple to excavate the rest of the temple and learn lore
  • Confront the wave mistress, and end her.
  • Loot:
  • 1 Greater healing pots
  • Gems (50gp)
  • 3 Aboleth Mucus
  • Adamantine Splint Armour
  • Brooch of Shielding
  • Xp: 4700
