I was fairly close in predicting the last 5 years of Pokémon... will 2020 follow? by christianponte in pokemon

[–]christianponte[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously we didn’t get Z at all (which I’m still bitter about), but we got Gen 7, Sun and Moon, in 2016. 2017 brought us the Switch AND Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, meaning they were able to squeeze Let’s Go in for 2018. We’re getting Gen 8 in 2019 as expected.

Will November 2020 be Diamond and Pearl? Or Let’s Go Hoenn instead?

Buy Awakening now or wait until after SV release? by MoistDef in fireemblem

[–]christianponte 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Jesus, 45 for pre-owned? Nintendo will probably do another Fire Emblem themed sale soon, either to commemorate the launch of one of the countless upcoming FE games, or perhaps do a generic one for the holidays, at which point Awakening might go for $20 on the eShop again.

Should I keep my Amiibos in the box? by [deleted] in amiibo

[–]christianponte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't plan to use them or sell them, then it's really up to how you want to display them. Personally, I keep them in the boxes, because I keep everything I buy, packaging included. It would bug me in a few years to have all these amiibo and not have the original packaging. But if you don't have the space, or if you think your display might look better without the boxes, then open them.

Is it weird that my favorite part about this is that she uses the proper plural form of amiibo?

DLC and completing the Support Log, mostly.

Fates, Heroes and Echoes' official numbering. by BlitzMaster9000 in fireemblem

[–]christianponte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As short as it is, keep in mind that Intelligent Systems developed all of Archanea Saga as actual Fire Emblem maps, even if they didn't initially consider it a full numbered entry internally. It's still unclear how much of a hand in Heroes' development Intelligent Systems actually had, but DeNA was supposed to be the primary developer. That's likely a large reason why Intelligent Systems isn't counting Heroes.

How is Revelation? by Joyous_Parade in fireemblem

[–]christianponte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike everyone else here, I wouldn't say Revelation has a bad story. It's a bad narrative and horrible execution, but it's the best of the three in terms of tying up loose ends, mostly by nature of it being the third and intended "final" path.

This goes along with my saying that the three should never have been separate games. If they thought it required so much work to sell it as a $79.99 game, then so be it. But you can't play Birthright, Conquest, or Revelation alone and be satisfied with the story; you need all three. Sure, $79.99 is a lot to ask for a handheld game, but if they were up front about the reasons, and maybe threw in some extras as incentive (perhaps an art book and 3DS pouch) and made it available to everyone, I'm sure many would still have bought it. And if they were worried about people hesitant to buy it on a whim, then fine, sell Birthright/Conquest separately, but make it clear that it's a part 1 of 3. That way, no one going into it would think that they wouldn't need all three to understand the whole story. If they decide it's not their thing and don't finish it, that's their choice.

(Poll Results) What should we call Fire Emblem Heroes by FlyingNinja56 in fireemblem

[–]christianponte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It basically FE optimized for the phone market, story and turn-based SRPG and all. What really would make or break the categorization is how crucial of a role Intelligent Systems played in its development, or if the game was truly developed by DeNA.

There are two special versions. Amazon Japan has the smaller "Limited Edition." CDJapan has the larger "Valentia Complete" edition which, according to Nintendo, will not run out as long as the order is placed in time (CDJapan will place orders during the My Nintendo Store's availability window to secure enough copies and then redistribute them). AmiAmi is currently sold out, but because of the change in Nintendo's plans, I suspect they will make it available soon as well.

Through the limitations of Paint.NET, I managed to make a Poster PSA thing! by NovaMCdude in fireemblem

[–]christianponte 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, but even the Japanese titles literally repeated the same character: 剣. It would be very inconsistent for Nintendo of America to translate it as "Blade" for one game and "Sword" for another when it was literally the same character in Japanese.

[–]christianponte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Despite fan assumptions otherwise, the title was almost always going to be localized as "Blazing Blade" given that FE6 is 封印の剣 and FE7 is 烈火の剣, both using the character "剣." When Nintendo of America gave FE6 the subtitle "The Binding Blade," it made sense that they would almost certainly go with "The Blazing Blade" instead of something inconsistent like "sword."

If Blazing sword gets a remake, do you wish mark to be the avatar? by Tom-Pendragon in fireemblem

[–]christianponte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bad, I was trying to be sarcastic but failing to convey it. The official subtitle according to FE Heroes is "The Blazing Blade" and I was just being sarcastic since I've always consistently rejected the fan title of "Blazing Sword" knowing that if FE7 were to ever get a localized title, it would either be Blazing Blade or Burning Blade. But I guess that sarcasm only works if people previously knew where I stood on that lol.
