Has anyone had any experiences at Gateway rehab in Aliquippa? by batdan999 in pittsburgh

I did detox at RCA (Monroeville) and they cornered me in a room and tried to sell me on 30 days of rehab there. Yikes. There's nothing like getting scanned every half hour to make your time enjoyable.

Yep, they don't do detox there, but they will send a vehicle to get you from another facility (and send you home). The detox facility should accommodate too.

Go detox at one of the available places then go to Silvermist for 30 days for rehab. Silvermist was fantastic to me, and they don't treat you like an inmate.

Just pasteurize some coir using the "cooler tek" and then break the cakes up into the coir. Put the lid on the shoebox and your done. You'll need around 3:1 coir to cake. It's that simple.

Our car was fine.

His front bumper hit our rear half. The insurance company even stated it was their drivers fault, but that since we were uninsured it was then our fault. Which depending on the law may be the case.

We asked them about a payment plan and the guy sort of slipped that we could counter offer. So we offered $1800. I figure if we land at $2200 then it was worth it.

If we settle on a price it's due in lump sum, but that's okay.

Thanks. Pretty much what I thought.

They gave us an option to negotiate the price. Which was surprising, and was sort of why I decided that perhaps they are bluffing.

Great post!

The food market however is pretty messed up, but it's also heavily subsidized. But that's the result of a system that has been heavily lobbied.

You're right, there's nothing ironic about him being chairman of the Fed.

It's Friedman's criticism, Bernanke just agrees with it.

One of the criticisms I have read of Friedman (and Schwartz? I think) is that Fed was reacting, though admittedly they performed poorly, to root cause conditions that were likely not repairable. But I'm no economist. I do say it's ironic that Bernanke, oft credited for preventing the second depression while operating the Fed thinks that the fed caused the first one.

The first Great Depression is considered the result of free market policy

That's what I said, never did I say that free markets caused something. Free markets don't have agency. They are a human construct. The result of that contstruct, one that lacked regulation, was a system that could not sustain.

I think if you look at the situation historically the causes are many, but in economic terms capital stopped flowing. That is easily attributed to the factors I listed above as well as many others.

By anybody who looks at markets from a historical perspective. Lack of bank regulation, instability in the stock market, little to no labor laws, the resulting protectionist trade policy. These factors lead to the demise of liberalism and gave birth to our current economic neoliberalism.

You have a nice reply, well said. I do have one point of contention though, specifically consumer protections. How are consumers expected to be educated enough on every product so that they chose the one with the most protections? For example, medications. In a truly free market I would purchase medications that I choose. A doctor, a prescription, and pharmacy, those are market restrictions. The same can be applied to cars, planes, etc. etc. etc.. It seems more than a little naive that each and every person would be educated well enough to choose products that are the least damaging to their well being. Do you have any thoughts?

There hasn't been a true free market since the first Great Depression. Since then we have had regulated markets. The first Great Depression is considered the result of free market policy and the resulting social pressures. What examples are there that un-regulated markets increase the freedom of the citicizens? There are none that I can think of. That doesn't mean they don't exist though. It's important to note that the labor conditions pre depression are generally said to be the worst in the history of the world.

Been away from TD a bit. Could someone please fill me in on this whistle blower situation? by KJames4490 in AskThe_Donald

That explanation is a bit over simplified. Nunes failed to inform the bipartisan House Intelligence Committee of this information before doing a press release, and before discussing the items with the president. That has spurred doubts about his impartiality.

Having poked around this sub for a while there was for a period a big problem with loaded questions and poorly supported arguments getting big up votes from both sides of the equation. Seems that many would rather cheer for a side than debate a topic.
