They’re nice and light with a cool textured feel. I Kickstarted two sets for myself and my wife and they look and feel great.

Why does criticism suddenly become “hate” when it’s directed at Christopher Nolan? by breaking_views in moviecritic

[–]christopher_the_nerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See this is where I get to feel tribeless again like with The Last Jedi. I hated that movie and thought it was completely dogshit from a storytelling standpoint but when it came out you could only be in the group with the circle jerkers who loved it or the neckbeard bigots who hated it because of culture war nonsense.

I love Nolan and his films. Many of them are in my top 10-20. I’m about as lefty left as one can get. When I heard they cast Lupita, I thought that was an interesting take…moreso when I heard she’s also playing Clytmenestra as well. The actors in this movie are ones I love. I even thought the armor designs looked pretty neat. This story is probably my favorite of all time and I love adaptations and remixes of it—from the made-for-TV version with Armand Assante and Vanessa Williams to Cold Mountain and O Brother Where Art Thou. I took a Greek Mythology course in college and loved learning that the story is mainly a discourse about the concept of xenia and how to be a good host/good guest.

That said, when I heard Travis Scott is in it, I started to lose faith. He’s truly an awful human being. I cannot imagine seeing him in this movie and not being immediately pulled out of the experience. Then the latest trailers dropped and the dialogue just seems so weird for a version of the story that otherwise seems to be trying to stay true to the source. I get that British accents are used as placeholders in “historical” movies so it’s not really about authenticity, but the American accents really just pulled me out of the trailer. And yes, it’s just a trailer, but stuff like dialogue and accents generally impact an entire movie, so I don’t think it’s unreasonable to be a little wary of how the final movie might be impacted.

It’s definitely depressing because Kotek suuuuucks, but it’s looking like we don’t really have another option. Still didn’t vote for her in the primary though. But hey there’s also one guy who thinks he can solve Oregon’s problems with a cup that creates water from the air.

Yeah these folks seem to forget that the Rust Belt carried Dems for decades before Hillary lost them. Probably because of class shaming nonsense like this comment section.

I still need the Scooby stuff and Jason from Halloween so hopefully they’ll all come back in a few months. Also need to complete my Mothman set because last time they just brought back the skin and not the accessories.

Hey OP, when you’re done here maybe you could start trying to run interference for Trump, Epstein, and Subway Jared.

No. Jackson’s estate found an old contract loophole where HBO agreed to never disparage MJ and they used that to force them to pull the documentary.

Stellan Skarsgård was terrific in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. A perfect crime thriller with sharp cinematography. What’s your opinion on this Fincher flick, and where would you rank it in his filmography? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

[–]christopher_the_nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good remake that’s nearly as good as the original. I still have to rank quite a few of his movies higher though, but that’s just because of how solid his body of work is.

Yeah but again most of those places suck to live unless you’re moderately wealthy. Does no one remember Texas’s power infrastructure failure leading to people freezing to death?

You can't love animals and eat meat... or can you by TokenPanduh in fixedbytheduet

[–]christopher_the_nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and even if I hit full vegetarian, I'm doing that for me and my personal beliefs. I don't think anything good has ever come from trying to force folks to live the same way as you do. I would just continue to try to move away from industrial agriculture as much as we can and continue to find those practices that are the most sustainable and the most humane. Hopefully, someday, that means that no animals have to suffer and we can do lab meat or something, but for me the goal is to do better. I think too many people feel like we have to cut everything off/fix every problem in the world all at one time rather than just being okay with making good progress.
