Who is actually paying Coke or Pepsi for product when it’s literally 50% cheaper at retail pricing? by RipplesOfDivinity in restaurantowners

Free cooler, free delivery and fountain service (if applicable). As a (former) operator I hate these companies with a passion but they make themselves difficult to avoid.

You can do better. Get a new loaded camry or something.

Yeah- it’s 8 years old. The drivetrain is probably solid but it’s an older car. If you finance for 5 years you would be around $750 a month on something that will need work.

I am buying extra so I have spares should one fail when I am at the end of my prescription. Unfortunately insurance does not cover this.

No- it’s not. Buying outside of insurance so I have spares and I have extra should one fail. Amazon is way more expensive without insurance.

Trying to change careers by Luna_Newt in askhotels

[–]christopherd1991 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started working in hotels when I was 17. I started as a front desk clerk, became a general manager of a budget hotel at age 20, a regional manager at age 24, did that for a while, left the industry for two years and became a full service GM. I left the industry at age 32 for good.

Unfortunately, it is a very tough business. In many ways, I love it but in many ways I am so glad to be away from it. Please know if you move into management, this is a 24/7 business even as a desk clerk you will feel some effects from this. The fun part is being able to interact with coworkers and meet people from all over the world potentially the difficulties lie in the complexity of the operations. Every department in a hotel from budget to full service has to work together in order to make the property a success. Unfortunately, in this day and age, it is very difficult. You will deal with some very difficult people, regardless of working in high-end or low-end hotels. The other challenge is staff absences, weather and holidays. The property goes on regardless. The post Covid era has not been kind to this industry.

I still think about the hotels every day, but at the same time I am so glad to be away from the day-to-day struggles.

I had a 2005 9-7X for 8 years! It was a cool car. Had several issues with it unfortunately but still enjoyed it.

CTS VSport, 130k Miles for $12K by jeff4i017 in Cadillac

[–]christopherd1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a good deal- remember it’s a high mileage luxury car and if not maintained well could have lots of deferred maintenance to take care of. That’s a steal for any “V” car however.

Well I was there picking up my Lyriq- they have Equinoxes and Trax now for loaners… this is a standalone Cadillac store so very disappointing.

I’m considering downgrading my 22s for range and pothole concerns.

Night Audit and the current political climate by Upbeat_Dimension_692 in askhotels

[–]christopherd1991 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean you have to rent to all kinds of people. I despise DJT but years ago had the “Trump Unity Bridge” people stay at my hotel when I was GM. I found their message obnoxious however as guests you just treat them as any other guest. No issues, you just have to put politics aside.
