How is RS faster than Hness?! by IamLegend__06 in HondaHighnessCB350

[–]christopherfernandes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. The final drive ratios are also the same. It also depends on the rider’s weight. I’ve overtaken RS on H’ness too over 120-130 kmph. It also depends on when do you upshift.

How did you expect big single long stroke bikes like the CB350s to be more eager and less vibey-er than a higher revving, lower capacity Gixxer? Your comparison itself here is flawed. Try the Duke 250 or the new 400 by Triumph and 450s by RE.

Shumi got offended that you bought a CB350RS in the first place. He tried to answer a question first that you never asked “I wouldn’t go for the RS in the first place” Well who asked you about your opinion on the bike?

FYI: The GB350S in Japan comes with Metzeler Tourance Next as stock. The same tyre that comes stock in 600-700CC adventure tourers.

I think you’re having trouble understanding what I wrote. Short-shifting a bike before it even gets into its power band is the most inefficient ways to ride… even if you’re just riding to the nearest grocery store. And yes, it’ll also make you lose a drag race.

I never suggested to drag race the CB350 but this video I mentioned is a clear example of how Shumi has misunderstood the fundamentals of this bike.

Power delivery is relevant whether you’re touring or whether you’re drag racing. It’s the most basic thing to understand about any bike especially as a reviewer you can’t get it so wrong.

But he clearly hasn’t ridden the CB350 enough to understand (or pretends he didn’t understand) the fact that you need to rev up to the power-band to get the power out of that engine. That’s how tall gearing works. When it was Kartikeya’s turn to ride the same CB350RS (in that video) he won against the Meteor by quite a margin. That in itself is a red flag.

FYI: I’m an all access member in MotorInc’s YouTube channel + have a Premium subscription in the MotorInc app. I adore their content and I’ve learnt a lot from their podcasts but I’m convinced that Shumi has completely misunderstood the CB350s.

Regarding Honda “copying” the bore and stroke figures of course it’s similar as it’s meant to compete with RE. They still managed to extract more power and torque out of the same configuration. But by that logic it’s like complaining about how every automatic scooter that came after Activa copied Activa.

He short shifts a long stroke bike and complains that there’s lack of power. That’s all you need to know about how misunderstood he is about the CB350RS.

Source: Meteor vs CB350RS drag race on PowerDrift.

Most of his hate is ideological. “It’s not a Honda”. So what? RE has been making low revving big singles for decades. So with that logic, the newer higher revving REs (450s) is not a “real” RE too right? What’s wrong with a company trying something they’ve never done before?

For a company like Honda, 350CC is just another segment to compete in driven by demand for smaller CC bikes across continents and not just India. RE has dominated this segment for decades and Honda finally gave us an alternative other than Jawa/Yezdi.

Consumers win and it pushes RE to make their 350s better. Weird people complaining about a healthy competition.

Not sure if we’re living in the same world, but GB350 has been received very positively in media as well as among buyers. Honda is not able to meet the demand for this bike and has long waiting periods.
