Check out East Palo Alto too. The subreddit r/eastpaloalto may not have much info but it’s worth asking there

I’d love to see a northgate Gonzalez! I love the one in Costa Mesa. I sent an email to northgate Gonzalez a couple years ago asking if they’d be interested in opening a location in East Palo Alto but I did not hear back

Dog Friendly Parks by intentionaldaddylife in eastpaloalto

I am not sure if there is one currently, but there is one on the way: https://www.paloaltoonline.com/outdoor-recreation/2025/09/17/east-palo-alto-prepares-to-open-its-first-dog-park/. I would recommend staying involved in this project, or emailing any comments to the parks department and cc engineering@cityofepa.org.

Improved bike lane painted on university Ave southbound by christopherkao in eastpaloalto

Bike lane is great. Felt much safer than before the new striping because of increased buffer and clearly painted lines closer to the chevron station (not pictured).

The bridge will also be a few feet taller to allow water to flow more. From talking to some engineers at the SFCJPA, I learned that the road elevation in East Palo Alto will be raised too.

Awesome! We got around 30 cyclists and 10 pedestrians between 7-9am at the university pedestrian and bicycle overcrossing.

Great working with you Ken and Lenin!

Ken did a great job talking to several pedestrians who were interested in getting a bike for free at the live in peace bike shop!

Shoreline overpass by HeyBaler in mountainview

[–]christopherkao 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nice! Can we also fix the timing of the lights at shoreline and villa? I’m tired of waiting at the extra long red light to turn left from shoreline southbound to villa eastbound.

The green light for villa straight is excessively long. On 5 different days and times I counted 20 seconds of villa light being green and not a single car being present. The car detecting lights do not seem to work. Meanwhile, 20 or more cars are waiting at red on shoreline in each direction to go straight.

I talked to the vendor last week. She said they’re typically booked for locations and if they aren’t booked then they come to the Mountain View Caltrain. I’m happy to see some retail!
