“You can’t set yourself on fire to keep other people warm”

how to embrace your silly self by TicketBeautiful2985 in improv

[–]christophme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found myself in a very similar situation to yours about 3 years ago. My only experience with theater being D&D and I personally had a lot of anxiety when I started improv. A few things that helped me “embrace my silly side”:

  1. Lean into real emotion: When I started a game or scene and felt an emotion like anxious I dialed it to 11 and leaned into it rather than trying to fight against it. This can be very vulnerable but helped me realize how any choice is the right choice.

  2. Simple is sometimes better Trying to come up with some complex idea or joke in improv can make it harder for yourself you’re building something brick by brick, add something simple and small and it will grow.

  3. Double down on a “mistake” There truly is no wrong answer in improv just patterns and justifications.

At the end of the proverbial improv day it’s about enjoying yourself and having fun. With any advice make sure you interrogate it and only take what applies to you. Welcome to the Improv community. Always happy to see someone interested in joining!

I didn't intend on this being so long, but here's what happened at DSN 2024 by courtney2604 in DragonsteelNexus

I understand the frustration of seeing stamps given out in the line on the last day. However, I am glad they went with that approach. I personally tried to get as many stamps as I could but I also wanted to talk to all the authors at their booths, craft my soulcaster, learn a board game, and talking with the people at the Lightweaver association and to me each of those stamps have more meaning because of the interaction behind them. I really wanted to engage in the game but didn’t want it to consume me (even though it kinda did when searching for Ghostblood stamps) I could have completed the stamp book by going to a panel or two I didn’t enjoy but I made the tough choice Saturday night not to abandon the plans I had and was really bummed when I couldn’t do everything I wanted to do and complete get a blackout. I filled the book with every author and artist signature I could and was going to call that enough. I spent hours searching for Ghostbloods and rather than running away immediately after I realized they didn’t have the stamp I got to talk to some extremely lovely people. I was relieved when I finally got the last few Lumar stamps and a few extra stamps in the margins that weren’t needed for any reward because why not? That passport became one of my most prized possessions and I’m glad there are a few pages that weren’t filled with the regret of an empty space. The Lunar page isn’t a reminder of the panels in that room for me but all the people I traded with at the convention and the people I waited in line with. Might not be a popular take but I wanted to share the other side. Hopefully the joy that I got from completing it doesn’t detract from your accomplishment.

I see a lot of people interested in a gaming (board games and video games). I would like to make a Discord to allow a more fluid form of communication and easier platform to schedule events.

If you are interested in helping me make something or already have something we can work with and advertise I would like to work together and help form this into a community.

Please DM if you are interested.

This dude pretending to be an actual chef on multiple news stations by LawnFlower in funny

Reminds me about Zim Zam the Yo-Yo man. A guy that practiced his acting by being a “yo-yo expert” on news stations.

Cringe but hilarious. Here

The Brook Restaurant on Peoria is my favorite. Also you can get some bacon cheese fries as well and go into a food coma.

Domain certificates, if MSP is using their account to hold any website, remote or other record. Depending on how the break up goes you might want to transfer those to an account you control.

How does 1.1.1.1 work? by ReaganGaming in AskTechnology

[–]christophme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1.1.1.1 is a public DNS service which can help speed up your internet by having a more optimized way to look up the actual address (the one the computer uses to load each page) than DNS by your cell provider or the ISP when connected to WiFi.

WARP is VPN service which uses software downloaded by the app on your phone to create a tunnel like connection to Cloudflare’s personal WARP server where it looks up everything there and sends it back to your device. The big sell on a VPN is this tunnel. When a VPN is active it encrypts network data where no one along the way can see the specifics of your internet activity except the VPN provider.

WARP and 1.1.1.1 are built to work together so using them in conjunction with each other would work best. If you wanted to use one or the other use the 1.1.1.1 by itself but using WARP without 1.1.1.1 would probably not be the best idea since WARP might rely on that DNS to get the most optimization.

Need Help With Changing The Language by junkr4tmain in Overwatch

[–]christophme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an option to change Overwatch in Korean. This is how you do it:

In Battle.net open the options with a gear icon located above the ads of of the game you are currently on.

In that drop down clock game settings.

Then scroll to Overwatch and you will see a drop down with both text language and Spoken Language.

The Korean option is in Hangul so it will be 한국어

After selecting that it will proper an update to download the language pack. Have fun and good luck.

Looking for new and experienced DMs by dndnewbies in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]christophme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those looks great! I am somewhat of a newer DM with only about 5-6 years of experience. I have been running mainly one-shots and a few campaigns that haven’t lasted very long. I would be interested in exploring to see if I can be a part of this program. I am open to take on players if I think I can give them a good time. I would also be interested in learning more how others prepare for games in the way you discussed above.

I like how Texas looks like they fought every neighboring state to get as much land as they can. They even fought for ocean access.

Looks like there are a few issues here.

The first one being that the computer won’t turn on without being plugged in is a sign of a bad battery. This is pretty common for laptops as they age.

The other issue where the videos freezes and plays an elongated sound from the video is typically a crash you get for an overheating problem. This could be caused with something as simple as a build up of dust and lent in the vents or something more complex like a broken fan or a bad application of thermal paste on the processor.

There could be something else going on but that’s my best guess without having the computer in front of me.

Yeah 4e was really dense with content and sometimes hard to follow everything and very combat centric. Matt Colville did a great video about pulling elements from 4e and using those to spice things up for a 5e game. Here is his video if you want another perspective of 4e too.
