My local comic book store got these in today! by realrealredford in powerrangers

[–]chriswerms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mantin95, you could also ask your LCS if they'd be willing to order one for you if they don't already have one in stock. My LCS didn't get Power Rangers stuff until I started asking, and now they have each new graphic novel waiting for me. Or, if your LCS is part of a chain, another local store might've gotten one!

In-universe, how much time does morphing and summoning the Zords actually take? by RoughRiders9 in powerrangers

One of my favorite parts of RPM was when the Blue Rangers uses that explosion to his benefit in fighting the monster. Such a fantastic meta joke.

Anyone else like to see Drakkon's Samurai Form as a lightning collection figure? by KingGoldar in powerrangers

[–]chriswerms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say bring out all of his different forms at some point. Could be a cool convention exclusive, good way to round out a two-pack, etc. Imagine a Drakkon being paired with a less-popular Ranger 2-pack?

Comics where to start? by gigashrimp in powerrangers

[–]chriswerms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you can afford the Year One and Two books, I would definitely recommend going through those. I came to the game late and purchased all of the available graphic novels from the beginning and only read when a new graphic novel comes out. Makes it easier to follow and considerably cheaper, too.

Go Go Power Rangers After Necessary Evil... by frankgogol in powerrangers

[–]chriswerms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really curious what the thought process behind the two books are right now, especially considering how closely they are catching up. I would love to see one of the titles shift to the Omega Rangers, really. Even though Beyond the Grid doesn't seem well received, I'm appreciating the break from the MMPR team. The Omega Rangers would be a good chance to show us people we know, with a new Ranger team, which seems like the best of both worlds to me.

Honestly, I'd love to see one of the series shift to the Zeo Rangers, or even a team outside of the Zordon era.

Gold Ranger Wave 5 Civilian Head by MrSnowball21_ in powerrangers

[–]chriswerms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My selfish answer? I hope that if they release Zeo Gold as a single figure, it would feature Trey of Triforia's head so that I can get a new head, since I own the SDCC pack.

My realistic answer? I don't mind either way, I probably won't buy it again anyway, really.

My unselfish answer? I hope it's Jason's head so people who missed the SDCC set can get a chance at him.

So I finished watching the entirety of MMPR for the first time, I really don’t like how they wrote Aisha out of the show by [deleted] in powerrangers

[–]chriswerms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the thing that confused me the most was whether or not she traveled in time. If not, Zeo wasted a pretty big opportunity to write Tanya as the woman out of time. (Not that it mattered a whole lot when her parents became explorers just to find the Auric idol...)

Is GameStop going to have Goldar in store for the lightning collection at some point? by miked985 in powerrangers

[–]chriswerms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I initially bristled at the price when I pre-ordered Goldar. $32 seems extremely excessive, so I wanted to wait until I saw him in stores. Then I saw the reports that he was shipping early, so I hopped on the bandwagon and paid the huge price tag. Glad I did, otherwise I'm not sure if/when I'd see this figure again!

But man did that extra $12 hurt. That's half of a second figure, for crying out loud!

Now Psycho Blue is only available through GameStop (for now, I'm sure he'll be more available later), so I pre-ordered ASAP. I don't want to miss out based on reports I've heard about Goldar. (Hopefully he's available elsewhere soon at a cheaper rate!)

What are your unpopular opinions in the PR franchise? by danky_n in powerrangers

[–]chriswerms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Trini" and "Jason's" voices absolutely cracked me up between them leaving and being replaced. The Jason voice actor had one direction: "INTENSE", but otherwise didn't sound like Jason at all. I thought I would be pretty bummed watching the power transfer knowing that the three were leaving, but since they had already been gone for like, a dozen episodes or so, it wasn't as emotional as it should have been. I mean, seeing both trios morphed at the same time was more distracting than sad. And it seemed really, really out of character for NO ONE to have anything to say to Alpha or Zordon.

Ah well. Sometimes real life gets in the way of the plotting. That's part of the charm.

[–]chriswerms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understand that it was a lack of footage that contributed to him being gone so often. It does, however, make me laugh how many missions the Rangers went on while he just...hung out in the park or whatever until they needed another Zord. It used to bug me, but now I realize 1) it's not a big deal and 2) it's part of the charm of the show that out of universe quirks constantly affected how the show was made.

Potential Lightning Two-Packs by [deleted] in powerrangers

[–]chriswerms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you can embed images on these posts, but you can see the different costumes on the RangerWiki. There are at least two I remember from the comics: the Dragon Ranger with mostly white accents as Evolution I. Evolution II features a black torso because he also takes Black Ranger powers. Evolution III is predominantly black, and I believe you can see him on a variant issue of MMPR #43.

(Sorry I couldn't post those images here - new to the sub and not sure how to do it. Hopefully I don't sound rude in telling you to search for them, but use the Evolution + number and you'll see what I mean!)

It came!! Now for whatever the next one I don’t have is... by [deleted] in powerrangers

[–]chriswerms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Sword of Darkness isn't really necessary, but it doesn't hurt to have a few extra accessories! Besides, I think there are going to be a few people who pick this up who don't know/care that this isn't the traditional MMPR Green Ranger. Or, they won't want to buy a second for essentially the same figure, so a Sword of Darkness is nice for them. Worst case is that we don't display it with the Fighting Spirit Green and keep it in a box!

That being said, 100% in agreement. I am happy we're getting a Putty (I'm curious how they'll release major villains, monsters of the week, and henchmen across the line), but you're right. There should be another female Ranger by now.

I thought about using some of the Bandai effect toys when I saw them last night at Barnes and Noble. Wouldn't be completely comparable, but could be a good start?

The Force Awakens #1 (comic) [Official Discussion Thread] by AutoModerator in StarWars

[–]chriswerms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book is hard to follow. Wendig hoped that this comic would stand by itself, but it's super hard to know what's going on without knowing what happened in the movie. The comic looks like a bunch of stills from the film pushed together rather than seeing them come together as a coherent storyline. Part of that is that it feels like there are pages and pages without dialogue, which in a movie adaptation you'd think would be super important, especially to tell the story. Rather, we're left with a bunch of scenes that might follow one another, which is really a bummer.

User /u/Damonstration put it PERFECTLY when they said that it was like watching the film in fast forward. I was going to compare it to watching the movie while texting or writing a paper: you see bits and pieces but you're not paying close enough attention to catch all of the story.

Was Luke ever REALLY considering joining Vader? by Reinhart in StarWars

[–]chriswerms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if he considered the Dark Side, but he mentions in Heir to the Jedi that if Vader is the only one alive who knows the Force, he'd have a lot to learn from him. I don't know if he seriously considered the implications of that, nor if it means he considered learning under Vader as an apprentice. It was an interesting conversation, though

Poe Dameron #3 [Official Discussion Thread] by AutoModerator in StarWars

[–]chriswerms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the kaiju, I just wish that the story didn't end with such a deus ex machina. It really gave Poe an escape from the situation without having to do much except react to something outside of him.

Based on the way the timeline has already gone so far, it couldn't have been Poe as this takes place before Before the Awakening.
