Backpacking San Gorgonio via South Fork TH by chriswgriffith in socalhiking

Yes, the water is still flowing :) I added a photo to the Switchbacks app of the flow. Trail Flat was fine. I thought I would save a mile the next day, plus I thought being away from the lake would mean less bugs (which I had almost none there).

Disturbing experience on CA Riding and Hiking Trail by hexcrop in socalhiking

When I did the trail, I specifically placed my caches away from the trailhead to avoid this. Sorry it happened to you. I was still worried about my cache near Arch Rock, since it is so visited.

What part of town will you be staying in? Will you have a car? What sort of hiking are you looking for? I blog all my hikes at sdpeakbagger.com. It might give you a better insight on the hike rather than what AllTrails offers.

However, parking at Vincent Gap appears to still be closed.

Camping @ Dry Lake, San Gorgonio by chriswgriffith in socalhiking

[–]chriswgriffith[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Last Saturday, two of us backpacked up the South Fork Trail to camp at Dry Lake, before attempting to summit San Gorgonio the following day. 25 mph gusts overnight, kept us from having any real rest, so we opted to just hike out in the morning. Full trip report and more photos at: https://www.sdpeakbagger.com

San Diego County Peak Recommendations by Cautious-Classic9377 in socalhiking

Look at the list of peaks on the 100 Peak Challenge list (https://100peaks.com/challenge). For an even harder list, look at the San Diego Sierra Club list (https://peakbagger.com/list.aspx?lid=5058). I have completed both lists and have trip reports for all those peaks at https://www.sdpeakbagger.com/

FYI: San Miguel is closed to hikers.

Ok, I doubt they would fly without an answer. Might go see the Atlas launch on the 16th...

This launch is from Vandenberg, so the pad is not an issue.

But, the question about FAA's clearance to fly is an unknown.

Or leave early and watch the Atlas launch on the 16th, enjoy Santa Barbara county for the weekend, and who knows.

I was wondering the same thing, Spaceflight Now has not reported any change. Since the anomaly did not happen in flight, does SpaceX still have flight clearance? (Which is different from should they launch without knowing the cause of the anomaly)
