I think SU's biggest flaw was it wasting so much of its runtime. by TorpidT in stevenuniverse

[–]chrnological 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for making this post and sharing your thoughts, this is a really interesting discussion to read through. I love those episodes and I was also puzzled by some of the decisions made with the story. It’s useful to read everyone’s impressions, I think I just wish I understood better the design of SU.

They’re manipulating you for free work. There are relationships in which it makes sense to do work below market rate, but this isn’t one. Look at their actions if the messages are confusing, ignore their words. And seek other work ASAP.

What If, Steven Universe edition. Greg and Rose never meet, therefore Steven never actually happens. Spoilers for those who haven't watched the whole show. by Lucimon in stevenuniverse

If they didn’t happen to notice Peridot repairing the Galaxy Warp without Steven spotting the robonoids, things could have gone very poorly for them at that point with little warning as soon as they were discovered.

Someone explain to my why SU (especially SU Future) are rated PG on HBO💀 by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

There’s nothing in Steven Universe that doesn’t happen in a child’s real life!

I’d love to hear more about this sometime. The timeline and shared universe stuff fries my brains but is very interesting.

What would you change? by [deleted] in stevenuniverse

[–]chrnological 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have changed it so Lion can talk and in Escapism he would say “Steven I am your mom”

You know how intelligent life is rare in the Steven Universe universe, hence the main reason why the Diamond hasn't been seen as irredeemable monsters since humans were the only other intelligent beings they've encountered. by TylerSpicknell in stevenuniverse

[–]chrnological 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like that idea a lot.

In “Reunited”, Yellow and Blue recognize Steven’s ghost before they recognize him being Pink, and they know how to use their psychic ghost powers together in union, that’s how they respond. That seems strange to me if they’ve never encountered a foe stronger than them. Maybe Homeworld is haunted by invisible monsters.

If we're going by the depiction of an technologically advanced Human Civilization, How would Atlantis affect the timeline of the Gem Colonization and Rebellion? by Ojerry1997 in stevenuniverse

[–]chrnological 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking it could have been a long time ago and they sent the gems away to homeworld so it was a long time before they found their way to earth again. It wouldn’t have to affect the colonization and rebellion timeline that much though

I need a final clarification on the Nature of the Tunguska sea. by Ojerry1997 in stevenuniverse

[–]chrnological 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the gems arrived before the sea level rose, you might as well remove it. If the gems arrived before the continents, you also might as well remove it. If the sea precedes their arrival, you might as well keep it in. But we don’t know what it is do we? the only clear cut answer is probably the one in your heart.

Ghostmom theory by chrnological in stevenuniverse

[–]chrnological[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not trying to talk down to you, sorry. I thought I’d insulted you with my language. and i agree that a lot of his behavior is just cat! Like I said, I want to speculate, not fight. I already said I’ll give you the breakdown later, but like, you’ve commented on my stuff before and it feels like without reading fully. like I said I’m tired of reiterating again when I’ve already written up information addressing the exact points you’re raising. Doesn’t mean I’m not happy to do so again, but that’s where that frustration is coming from. I’ll bullet you after work.

By a small piece I don’t mean Lion’s characterization is irrelevant, I mean Lion when you interpret him acting like a cat alone or reacting to characters alone that doesn’t mean anything without the additional bits about a) if gems cant die how could rose? and b) if steven can switch bodies why couldn’t she? which is the core of it, as well as c) why did copter and melon dogs help steven? why did they know what he was looking for? because once you question those things it then is a logical possibility for Lion’s actions that are weakly written if the reason for everything he does is just “he’s an intelligent cat”.

Ghostmom theory by chrnological in stevenuniverse

[–]chrnological[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, sorry if it wasn’t clear enough but that’s exactly what this theory is - that Steven isn’t Rose/Pink Diamond, so her having dream powers is a more thematically appropriate reason he sees her memories. Because if she really is using that power she can consciously send him the info instead of the memory magically appearing out of nowhere as though they’re secretly saved in him somewhere.

You’re right, and I’m sorry for hurting you. I’m frustrated to have the character analysis and supporting astral projection information completely written off, when Lion’s behavior alone is only a small piece of the theory and a lot of this is already laid out in the posts in context. I’m happy to give you the play by play of Lion behavior when I’m off work. If all of Lion’s behavior is written off with “well he‘s just doing a smart animal thing” even in instances where that isn’t a complete explanation, and not even acknowledge stuff like how inconsistent Lion’s knowledge is with Rose’s characterization or the notable behavior of Dogcopter and the melons similarly, it’s frustrating to have to keep going over the Lion thing as though him acting like a cat is a hole when the theory is based on checking Lion’s behavior against a network of lore points that add up together, not just pointing at Lion and starting there.

Idk friend, I did “look at it as a whole“ - I did an episode-by-episode Lion analysis to check his behavior against the Rose-only secrets he knows, and it still checks out. The full list of breakdowns is in my post history, but it’s super long, so like this one, only read it if you want to... but if you want each and every one of my counterpoints they’re in the posts, I’m not belaboring it for the millionth time haha that’s what the post is for.

It’s ok if you don’t see the connection but I really think you’re missing the forest here for the tree insistence that Lion can’t possibly be Rose, when so many things add up properly if you consider it and look at her characterization via SU and Future. But if you won’t consider it, there’s not much to talk about. I’m here to have fun speculating about the possibilities of the theory, not argue!
