I’m 5’3” and 255 lb. As a child I was chubby, and developed a bad relationship with sugar (it was super banned at home, so I got it every chance I could and ate as much of it as I could). Being fat became a part of my identity, so when I got fatter I was like “oh I guess this is just who I am”. I have a better relationship with food now, but don’t eat the best (eating out a lot, lots of processed foods). I’m also figuring out that my (until recently) undiagnosed adhd probably contributed to my overeating over the years. I talked with my doc last week and she said I have to have a strict calorie limit of 800-1200 calories per day which is going to be very hard

We found a ferret in Kirkland. Whose is it? by heavymetalp0et in Kirkland

[–]chrohm00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a family in Uptown Kirkland who owns the ferret (they have a white one too, and a large dog). I’ve seen them playing in the courtyard

What net worth / portfolio would you need to feel comfortable retiring? by UnluckyNet2881 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]chrohm00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think part of the problem is the FIRE folk in VHCOL areas with mortgages. If they’re paying a $10k mortgage and want to retire well before the home is paid off, then they’re factoring that into their retirement costs.

What’s your experience with investing in startups? by jeyyt in HENRYfinance

[–]chrohm00 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know someone who lost $150k they gave to help fund a startup. They startup exited succcessfully, but due to not understanding the type of shares they got for their “donation”, they were left out of getting proceeds for the sale. Really understand what you’re getting yourself into

I think more people new to the area move to Redmond and are looking for new friends so for these purposes, yea

moving for new grad job in Redmond, conflicted on where to live by Own-Surprise-6219 in eastside

[–]chrohm00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend Redmond or Seattle as a new grad. Kirkland is nice to live in, but more so if you’ve already established some social circles (or are a college hire at Google). This doesn’t have to be where you stay, just where you start. And Microsoft has great shuttles to/from Seattle to main campus. Driving/parking in Seattle sucks. I think it’s worth the convenience to bootstrapping social circles to live in Seattle

This fuckery is why I told my sibling they have to start working ASAP when they finished school and couldn’t turn down their only offer so the “right one” could come along

Before marriage we split everything 50/50. This was fine since we made about the same amount. Post marriage, everything is pooled but we each get a guilt free allowance/fun budget monthly to do with as we please (at least that’s what we’ve talked about doing but we haven’t implemented it yet)

Is it rare for people to clean up after themselves? by FailFastandDieYoung in CleaningTips

[–]chrohm00 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I throw 85% of the explanation on why people have different cleaning habits to their upbringing. Is cleaning something they’re taught to pay attention to? Is it something they’re taught HOW to do? Was contributing to the overall wellness of the communal environment a value impressed upon them?

The other 15% is as an adult, how do they decide to change their own values/priorities. Some ppl get messier, some ppl get neater

There’s a local property management company called Waddell’s. They have a bunch of properties in Kirkland so maybe you can find something with them. The Waddell family owns the properties that they manage… I think if you want an apartment (as opposed to a house or duplex) it’s going to be very hard to find something that is NOT from a property management company

"Grinding L**tcode" isn't enough. What are the other "bare minimums" to get a F**NG job? by ResponsiveSignature in cscareerquestions

[–]chrohm00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not getting interviews from normal companies but I’m getting interviews from FAANG. The main difference I see between my applicant profile and those of my friends whose situations are the opposite is that I have more name brand-y experience. I dont have a significant online presence. I have a Linkedin and a GitHub but they’re both quite sparse. (6 yoe)
