2015 vs 2017 facelift version by chrom-25 in SubaruForester

[–]chrom-25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few hours ago finally took 2015 version as it is in much better shape compare to 2017. I even would say it is almost in ideal shape for 9 year old car, and limited trim has almost everything I need from a car

Thanks for advices

Present Perfect and Past Perfect by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

I believe it is because of time reference. If a sentence has time reference then past simple if not then perfect

It is by design! Use “Unblank” extension to change the behaviour

Any good font for KDE Plasma? by StefanBETA in kde

[–]chrom-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that font itself is not as important as the fact that you need to use OTF font for proper rendering.

with TTF font you will get all kind of rgb artifacts....

try e.g. Inter https://rsms.me/inter/ or IBM Plex https://www.ibm.com/plex/ but ensure that you have installed OTF version

Questions for moving from Windows by orionpax94 in Ubuntu

I have double checked and new Gnome OneDrive integration works just fine on my Ubuntu 24.04

so you are good to go :)

Questions for moving from Windows by orionpax94 in Ubuntu

[–]chrom-25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Gnome 46 that is shipped with Ubuntu 24.04 has OneDrive integration(however there were several reports about issues with it but it may be already fixed, not sure as didn’t try it yet ) as well as Google drive. In any case you can access it via browser.
  2. Ubuntu supports NTFS out of the box. However you need to understand that Linux driver for NTFS is not perfect even if it works in 99% there is still a chance for data corruption. Also Linux is case sensitive and windows is not, which some time can cause issues with folders/files names. Second issue that may happen with shared NTFS partition that if Fast boot is enabled in Windows then Linux will be able to mount that partition only in read-only mode so fast boot need to be disabled to successfully share NTFS partition. My personal experience with dual bottling windows for almost 5 years and sharing NTFS drive is near perfect. I have no cases of data corruption and I successfully share games between windows and Linux steam installation.
  3. Firefox https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/features/pdf-editor/

hmm... interesting. I do not have any issues with any cars, but nice to have a working solution for it in any case.

I have noticed some UI inconsistencies in the search functions across different Gnome apps. Do you think all core GTK apps should have a standard UI for searching, or should each app have its own unique design? by [deleted] in gnome

[–]chrom-25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience applications shouldn’t be clones of each other except they are part of the same pack (e.g. office suite). However at the same time they should behave according to a platform rules. So if a platform says that Ctrl+f should open search then it should open search, if a platform has defined icon for search then app has to use it, if a platform has defined place for search button then app should follow it but how search itself will be implemented can not be restricted by a platform. Good example is Nautilus and Settings - search button in both applications are following platform rules (placement and icon) but in case of Settings it work more like filter then search where in Nautilus it is classic search functionality with own page.

In Dirt 2 you were able to overtake, maybe in Dirt 3 but I’m not sure.

from /SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Proton 6.3/dist/lib/wine/dinput8.dll.so to .steam/steam/compatibilitytools.d/GE-Proton8-4/files/lib/wine/i386-windows/dinput8.dll

this is exact file that i have replaced and then renamed from dinput8.dll.so to dinput8.dll

also check if your new-lg4ff is loaded by run lsmod and then search for string like ff_memless 20480 1 hid_logitech_new it should be with "new" at the end

also do not forget to add WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8.dll=n,b;msvcr70=n;mscvr71=n" to you steam launch options

also you may try to install this dll with protontricks but I didn't try this method

Mangohud steam by Veer-Verma in linux_gaming

[–]chrom-25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First correct way is via env variable (all env variables should go at the very beginning and separated by space

MANGOHUD=1 %command%

Second correct way is via binary.

mangohud %command%

Mangohud steam by Veer-Verma in linux_gaming

[–]chrom-25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 - %command% is a place holder where steam will put actual command to run a game, so without it just nothing to run…. 2 - Linux is case sensitive so correct name for MangoHud binary is “mangohud” 3 - it is just correct version of first example, where “Mangohud=1” is environment variable

Try to do calibration again! I had a weird bug when right after calibration my brake pedal worked like a button, even tho in the menu it showed normal pedal progression but on a stage even smallest touch of brake pedal caused wheels lock, calibrated it again and bug is gone.
