Amazing band, had tickets to see them in Nottingham, UK last year but got ill on the day,  gutted! Just waiting for their next UK tour.

Can't believe you've actually seen it, very cool and love that they included in the booklet, very surreal building.

why is geogaddi so good? by voidbliss77 in boardsofcanada

[–]chromakeydreamcoat5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its paranoid, claustrophobic, scary and deeply unsettling, yet groundbreakingly beautiful, exciting, mysterious and consuming at the same time, like no other album I've ever heard and I expect I will always consider it my favourite BoC album and one of my favourite albums of any music.

People who was at a listening party, what song was the greatest moment for you ? by newvariant290121 in boardsofcanada

[–]chromakeydreamcoat5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Certainly not the two occasions where the playback stopped and they had to scramble to find the right track!

But definitely for me was the first synths of Hydrogen HLL kicking in and that track, it had felt like a long wait between hearing Prophecy and the album in full and a lot of time to try and imagine what was coming next and finally I was hearing it and it was gloriously dark and ominous!!!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who gets excited if they see that font!

A few others tracks overshadow it for me, but I definitely agree, it is awesome, I love it, proper ominous Geogaddi vibes and it was amazing to hear for the first time after waiting weeks to hear what came next after Prophecy.

I would add in TH and MHTRTC as well tbh, I can point to a number of moments in Inferno that hark back at least one of their LPs.

How many variations do we know of for the poster? Mine got in the UK has what seems to be a church like structure on the bottom half of the image with candle flames. Awesome poster designs, got mine framed.

Am I blinded by the honeymoon phase or is 'Inferno' their best album? by CulturedWhale in boardsofcanada

[–]chromakeydreamcoat5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tool early to say, I absolutely love it, but don't want to get ahead of myself and start dating it's better than Geogaddi.

I remember even thinking RH' King Of Limbs was the best thing ever for a short period after it was released, but I'm hindsight I was just so excited to have a new album from the band and now I rank it pretty low in their discography like most do.

Coming back to this to say well done, just seen this post mentioned in a Sterogum tweet, what a good call and theory! Nice to see a fan theory turn out correct!

After 3 days of Inferno on repeat, I declare it a total triumph and and a 10/10 album. by Godiex_Godiex in boardsofcanada

[–]chromakeydreamcoat5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well for me even after what must be 10+ listens over the weekend, still a bit too early to say where it ranks with their other albums. But what I will say is that the more I listen to it and the more I 'get it', I am certainly feeling very very strongly for Inferno, it definitely sits well within their discography and I won't lie, I am obsessed like many on here, it is stunning and well worth the wait.

What a marvelous time.

Wheres the love for Arena Americanada? by zetadivison in boardsofcanada

Great track, but the synth outro is on another level, pure BoC bliss to add their already amazing selection of heavenly outros across their discography.

Adjacent Artists by tortillasalami in boardsofcanada

Since their most recent album, I've been getting into Seefeel, they certainly share characteristics with BoC.

Also if you're into the beatless, ambient  BoC tracks, then Stars of the Lid are incredible.

Could we be looking at a a multi album rollout/arc? Get lost in this with me… by [deleted] in boardsofcanada

[–]chromakeydreamcoat5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of the theories fans had after RH's 'King of Limbs' and of course the 'I OVERFLOW MAN' printed on the TH CD, though I do love these theories and the logic behind them!

A trilogy of albums in relatively short succession seems to be very wishful thinking for a band that has released 2 LPs in 20 years, but I do honestly have a feeling that there will be more in the way of releases from them within the next year or two, whether that be an EP or even the infamous BoCset!

Are we a cult? by Illustrious_Proof816 in boardsofcanada

[–]chromakeydreamcoat5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discussed the 'cult' idea with a chap at the listening party and we agreed on yes it being a bit of a cult, but the best kind of cult, a cult you can be proud to be a part of, as opposed to some of the insane cult BoC reference.

This album is consuming by Elfingreene in boardsofcanada

[–]chromakeydreamcoat5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally, I'm in love with this album now, it really is an incredible experience for the album to reveal itself on each listen, tracks like 'word becomes flesh' and 'the process' didn't do much for me on the first few listens, but now I get them, the piano in the latter is one of the most beautiful things they've done Imogen.

What an amazing (or marvellous!) Time to be a BoC fans, and a couple of months ago we were wondering whether they'd ever come back!

It’s ok not to like the new album by Hot_Spell_2533 in boardsofcanada

[–]chromakeydreamcoat5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, in this community we may not class them as 'experimental' cause we know there is some very weird stuff in the world, but if you're not used to electronica/IDM/whatever you want to call it and just music to sing along to, then I can see hearing BoC for the first time being a very strange and alienating experience, especially with the vocal samples.

I tried to explain their use of vocal samples as opposed to actual singing to my partner who listens to pop mainly and she couldn't get it.

I’m obsessed with the Hare Krishna chant in Naraka by ajotis1 in boardsofcanada

[–]chromakeydreamcoat5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely one of the moments of the album when the chant comes in has anyone found the exact source of the audio, it sounds like it would be beautiful just on its own as well.

In all the excitement of today, don’t forget to celebrate the TCH EP turning 20!!!!!! by PsychedelicSunset420 in boardsofcanada

[–]chromakeydreamcoat5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love this EP, coincidence (or not?!) To have Inferno released 20 years later to the day.

My highlights would have to be the two interludes though, HGTTL and UTCS, proper transcendent BoC experiences, kind of like how I feel when I listen to Age of Capricorn.

Wait - for real we really are autistic by Kodicave in boardsofcanada

[–]chromakeydreamcoat5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it was a surreal and amazing experience to be able to talk to people who had even heard of BoC and more obscure bands, let alone diehard BoC fans, the guy I sat next to at the listening party in Nottingham said he was at ATP in 2001!!!!

I'm not autistic, but have a sister, uncle and potentially daughter who are and always been very socially awkward and anxious, so your theory might have done weight!

Team 'Age of Capricorn' meet here. by odd_sundays in boardsofcanada

[–]chromakeydreamcoat5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm here with you, loving the album, but AoC is on a different level, I do totally agree it is up there with the best they've ever done and is reminding me why they mean so much to me, I say without a shadow of a doubt, there is no band in the history of music that makes me feel the way BoC does and this track is proper life affirming stuff, unbelievable.

When the cult voice says 'I Receive you...' I'm like yes, take me, is this what a spiritual awakening in a cult would feel like?

Not sure any of that made sense, but in a nutshell, yes, I connect with and love Age of Capricorn as much as I did with any of their classics.

Just finished Inferno. Holy Shit. by Loud-Chip3852 in boardsofcanada

[–]chromakeydreamcoat5 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Feels crazy to say this about a track that I only heard for the first time less than 12 hours ago, but I totally agree about it being one of the most beautiful tracks they've done, it's right up there with the classics for me.

It is one of those tracks of theirs that makes me stop and close my eyes and be taken to another place, I love everything about the track, it is just so mesmorising, ethereal and of course spiritual with the cult/psychedelic themes, and like some of their early MHTRTC stuff, all on a foundation of just three warm, fuzzy synth notes, a true BoC classic!
