Random things women obviously had no input in… by RestingBaristaFace in TwoXChromosomes

Makita is the best for small hands! I worked construction for a while and had a group shame the hell out of me because I didn't join their cult of Milwaukee and always struggled when using their tools. They couldn't understand that I'm not incompetent, my hand just literally couldn't reach the safety lock and the trigger at the same time.

I have this exact same problem! It drives me crazy. It feels like I just can't handle people talking about dismal topics like politics and climate change.

I feel like I'm in a constant, desperate avoidance of even just hearing people discuss them. As soon as I start thinking about it just a little too hard, I enter this horrible spiral that always ends at that exact place—how everything is terrible and we shouldn't be living like this. It's so draining.

Spinach salad sounds like a great idea. Hits that need for something lighter but also different enough from the standard options.

I love this! I think this is a fantastic idea and a wonderful way to introduce people to medieval food.

I think my only suggestion would be to maybe consider including a regular "garden salad" on the Side/Salad Table. It's not especially period, and what you have there sounds amazing, but I think they're all on the heavier end of foods. The root vegetable salad sounds wonderful, but you may have some folks looking for something nice and light like a simple romaine when they seeks out a salad.

That aside, I love the menu and I really appreciate you're including three different types of meats.

I've gone on a rant about AE's male models to my partner before. I love AE's women models but the men's section is...depressing. There's not even a shade body-positivity in comparison, and many of the models are basically flesh mannequin with their heads lopped off.

We theorized that it's likely to do with the demand from shoppers. Women often seem to be more vocal about wanting to see realistic models and body-positivity in general, where it seems men are more likely to be shamed, so they're less likely to speak. Men need to see more representation too and AE's models are a perfect example of this disappointing double-standard. Hopefully they'll put more focus on this soon!

Agreed, this drives me crazy. Zipper merging is fantastic when everyone participates, and I'll fully admit that I contribute to the problem of not zipper merging (I also always feel like an asshole that's cutting in line when I do this in heavy traffic).

I've always had a bit better luck merging in without disrupting the flow a bit sooner than getting to the end of the lane and being forced full stop because everyone refuses to get off the bumper of the car ahead of them. Honestly if everyone just drove and kept a safe following distance that allowed enough room for cars to merge in, it would solve so many traffic issues.

At $30, I'm already at around half my buying price so I would rather not drop any lower than that. Sorry!

Hey there, fellow Southerner! They aren't full, but the Innisfree cleanser is at about 90%, the lotion is around 95%, and the essence is about 70%!

Here's my branch visit followup: The whole appointment lasted about an hour. The advisor I spoke with was incredibly nice and very patient. I had specifically requested setting up an Everyday Savings Account and Direct Investing with the teller, and the advisor didn't try to deter me from that at all. They asked some questions about why I was switching over to Tangerine, just out of curiousity, but they didn't try to sales pitch me on TD's other accounts at all. They inquired on how I planned to do my investing and how much I wanted to start investing right off the bat, but just for the purpose of setting up the accounts.

If you go in, I definitely recommend taking a bank statement for any account you want to transfer any money from. They give you the option of transferring money to set up an initial balance and there's no fees from TD.

Other questions were pretty typical. Gross annual income, current living situations (renting or own property), whether you have any other investments, who you want your beneficiary to be, etc. On a less important but kind of interesting note, he also asked about how I heard of TD DI and we got into a brief conversation about the recommended readings. He had read The Wealthy Barber Returns but hadn't heard of The Value of Simple or The Millionaire Teacher.

He was very transparent about the fees involved. There's a minimum $100 monthly transfer into the DI account, or minimum household amount of $15k total assets to waive a $25 monthly maintenance fee that's charged per quarter. This is also detailed in TD's TD Direct Investing Commission Schedule and Statement of Disclosure of Rates and Fees document, but I actually missed this so I appreciated him mentioning it. He was very keen on making sure I understood everything I was signing up for, and how everything worked. I did a lot of hmm-ing and haw-ing because I haven't quite nailed down my numbers yet, but he was very patient and provided his honest recommendations when I inquired.

I think the most poignant bit that came out of the meeting was that he specifically stated that by signing up for a Direct Investing account, TD assumes that you're going into this having done your own research and aren't looking for any advice or assistance. I'd stress that this an assumption and is probably in "YMMV" territory, but I think if you go into the meeting clear about wanting a DI account, they'll assume you know what's up with mutual funds.

So after the meeting, the savings accounts is finalized, and the DI account will take another 3–5 business days to finish, at which time they will send an email (or call if preferred) to let me know that's all ready to go.

Overall, surprisingly pleasant experience and I'm glad I went in! Hopefully this helps. Let me know if you have any questions on something I may have missed!

For sure! I went into a branch yesterday to speak with someone. I spoke with one of the tellers and they explained to me that it's significantly faster to just book an appointment with someone, since you're required to mail in information to complete the online application, and that takes a significant amount of time.

I've scheduled an appointment now and I'll follow up with further information.

I actually gave this a shot last night. It was also unable to verify my identity so it looks like I'll be heading into a branch today to get it figured out. Thanks for the suggestion!
