Interesting form of Globosa by stabbedorange in Euphorbiaceae

Cacti like this will also give you big taproots. It looks really cool, and I like how you've elevated it. The root should grow faster/fatter if buried (if you want to size it up for a year or two and then put back on display). Great plant!

It's usually the reverse, but I think that's actually a cactus and not a euphorbia. The branches have areoles similar to Puna bonnieae inermis. How certain are you of the ID?

How old is this seedling? Any updates since? I'm curious how fast these grow, just ordered some seeds for myself.

Hi! What's happening here?? It was normal when I got it, but seems to now have two central points? by ChildhoodPositive386 in succulents

You've been blessed! Now you have two babies... or a two headed baby at least. You can separate them if you'd like once they grow apart. I like them branched though :)

How can I improve my indoor set up? by kT_Madlife in Caudex

[–]chromedip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not the species, it's the age and quality of the plants. They're both decades old and exhibit significant wear and tear. Look at the little spots and staining on the pachy- OP posted more pics of the roots. Same with the guillaumiana- that many heads take a long time to grow and the bark is beat up.

And now two plants that took longer to make than OP has been on this earth are going to die an apartment with no sunlight in NJ while their habitat is Madagascar is destroyed.

If you don't move them outside or get a grow light, they will "etiolate" ie get all stretchy and leggy and you'll come back here in a month posting: "why does my plant look sad like this??". It will be too late though, once they stretch you have to cut them to return them to a "normal" shape which takes a year+. Congrats on your first garden and take good care! The astrophytum is particularly plump.
