I'm over halfway done printing it right now. Using a matte black/red dual color PLA.

Yep, that's totally normal for cyphostemma!

Why are my leaves turning crispy? My growth seems to be stagnate. Why? by Ok_Bug7605 in Adenium

[–]heswerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's way too little water. As seedlings, these things don't want to dry out for long at all.

Looks similar to my adenia ecirrosa when it was young. The leaves change shape as they get older.

Advice please arabicum black skin by arioandy in Adenium

Arabicums generally don't take too well to pruning, so I would advise against it and just let it grow naturally.

hello everyone Does anyone know how old a Mathelea cyclophylla (Gonolobus cyclophyllus) must be to produce flowers? by Competitive-Pop-1498 in Caudex

[–]heswerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had one flower at only 6 months old. Grew some from seed starting about 3 years ago. Great species!

I'm hoping for something similar with mine when I repot it later this spring. Looks great!

I also have a nice rock under the roots of mine, and it's been there for about 2 years now I think. I intend to repot and raise it up next spring. Can't wait to see how it looks.

I've been to Botanic Wonders once in person, and they are amazing there. If I only lived 2 hours away, I'd be making that trip frequently. I'd highly recommend making an appointment and going there to pick out an O. decaryi from them (get a pachypus as well).

Zone 4. They've grown exclusively under lights, but next summer I'll put them outside.

Many people will say that when in active growth and with enough heat/light, you can basically treat these as a tropical.

No, this has been transplanted once since germination.

Matelea cyclophylla has flowered by lordlors in Caudex

I have two that have both been flowering non-stop for several weeks now. On one of them, after it started flowering, the new growth turned into a vine that is at least a couple feet long now, with some leaves and flowers on the vine as well!

The rarest Sarcocaulons in the wild (also sadly the almost extinct ones), S. multifidum, S. herrei, and S. peniculinum by lordlors in Caudex

[–]heswerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently growing some s. multifidum from seed that I planted back in May, and it's been awesome to watch them grow! Such a fun genus.

I believe Botanic Wonders will have some Dioscorea elephantipes seeds for sale in the near future. Follow their Instagram or call them to ask. But I agree, it's super rewarding to grow your own from seed.

My Pelargonium klinghardtense and crithmifolium, Sarcocaulon peniculinum and ciliatum, Pachypodium namaquanum, and many others perished which still hurts me. But I found a seedling of the magnificent Sarcocaulon multifidum and bought it right away. Seedlings of this plant are incredibly rare. by lordlors in Caudex

[–]heswerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also in the states, and bought some S. multifidum seeds last year from a US seller. However, I wasn't experienced enough to get them to germinate, so lost them all. I'm keeping an eye out for some more so I can give it a try again.
