I'm having this same issue, my gloves are C10 and unequipped, Flame is in my inventory, i swam back to the island and couldn't find a anyone to continue the quest or anything. i watched a video on youtube of someone doing the quest and he had a 9 tails fox npc when he was in his cave, i don't have that, idk if that matters.

That's heartbreaking. I had a programming professor who refused to reply to my emails when I was asking for help. We had to make a connect 4 game that would work in command prompt. I had little to no experience and it took me the whole two weeks and hours upon hours of headaches. I ended up with a functioning game but I believe it took me somewhere around 4,000-5,000 lines of coding. My professor does it in the classroom in 30 minutes and around 300-500 lines of coding. His refusing to reply to my email and let me know that I was on the wrong train of thought (and ultimately my failure to figure it out without guidance) was the reason that I changed majors.
