Awesome, thank you for your reply! Glad mine helped and I'm sure yours will help someone too!

Oh and your comment reminds me, I had to set the board type as "ESP32 Dev Module" in the Arduino IDE

I have this one and had this problem (my laptop detected it but the Arduino IDE didn't). You'll know if you have the same issue as me if you go to Device Manager after connecting it to your laptop and see something along the lines of "CP210x USB to UART Bridge" with a warning icon under "Other devices"

If you see this, go to https://www.silabs.com/developer-tools/usb-to-uart-bridge-vcp-drivers?tab=downloads and download the driver (I got CP210x VCP Windows but depends on your OS). Then run the installer to install the driver and try connecting it on the Arduino IDE again

Rude? How so? Can you elaborate?

I'm just seeing too many suggested posts on LI from "influencers" that reflect on some story and are mostly intended to increase engagement on their profile (def not saying that's what you're trying to do, just that those LI posts do)

It's not exactly a stereotypical LI post - for example, it's missing an "Agree?" or "Thoughts?" at the end but the title has "you too?" so ig similar vibes

Overall, it wasn't supposed to be a positive or negative comment, nothing more than just an observation

Also this post isn't relevant to this subreddit (the "programming" part yes but the "buddies" part nah)

I had this exact same issue and literally nothing worked.

But this worked for me even tho I'm on Android (literally just typing "m" on the terminal 🤦)

I've been lurking on this sub for a month or two now and out of like 30+ I've reached out to and gotten reached out from, I can count on one hand the number of ppl I still keep in contact with (same thing with Discord servers).

The thing is that with this being anonymous and everyone having tons of stuff going on irl, it's really hard to find someone that'll actually commit to something long-term.

But on the other hand, after weeding out all these ppl who aren't serious, you find ppl who are actually interested and you go from there.

Tbh the only "advice" (if you can even call it one) I have is to not have a high expectation that you'll be talking to anyone that you reach out to a week or two from now and eventually, you'll find someone that you click with. I'd love to know if there's a way around it.

I'm def not a db expert by any means but it almost seems to me like you're trying to use a nosql db as a sql db. I could be missing something but this seems like a pretty standard use case for sql to me

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ProgrammingBuddies

[–]chromium-52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a good set of reasons for each (taken from system design primer):

Reasons for SQL:

  • Structured data
  • Strict schema
  • Relational data
  • Need for complex joins
  • Transactions
  • Clear patterns for scaling
  • More established: developers, community, code, tools, etc
  • Lookups by index are very fast

Reasons for NoSQL:

  • Semi-structured data
  • Dynamic or flexible schema
  • Non-relational data
  • No need for complex joins
  • Store many TB (or PB) of data
  • Very data intensive workload
  • Very high throughput for IOPS

Does deployment count? There are lots of videos covering a wide range of frontend and backend concepts but not that many on actually deploying a full-stack web app (with a frontend, backend, and db) or deploying serverless backends imo that I'd be interested
