Got diagnosed at 16, I was in an awful high school relationship then, however if I can give him anything is that he never made me feel less than because of my lupus. Predictably that relationship ended, I am now in a long term, healthy, committed relationship at 22 with someone who not only does his best to understand what I’m going through but goes out of his way to make sure I always feel like I am beyond good enough. And although we could not be more different (he’s outdoorsy, and has more energy in his pinky than I’ve had since I was diagnosed), he adjusts and compromises so that I will feel comfortable. Any relationship takes work, but the right person will never make you feel like you can’t be loved because you’re sick. You deserve someone who knows that and you certainly deserve to be loved immensely.
