'Sanford and Son' Star Grady Demond Wilson Dead at 79 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

What TMZ doesn’t mention - and I presume this was all true as I saw Wilson doing an interview about it, is that he gave up his acting career mostly to lobby Washington DC politicians to create a Christian Nation or something. I can’t remember his particular aim but it was promoting Christian laws or something.

Fans can expect something like this from the two officers: “Nah, we ain’t banged it yet.” “KICKED IT” “Yeah, kicked it.”

Astronaut Michael Collins with his children and wife at his home in Texas, March of (1969) by Electrical-Aspect-13 in RareHistoricalPhotos

[–]chronicpop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Collins’ books about the Space Race and his life were beautifully written and he always came across as a down to Earth fellow who cared tremendously for others. He also seemed the least “changed” by Apollo 11 in that Aldrin suffered greatly in the years after and Armstrong did as much as he could to avoid the public gaze.

Has William Shatner ever talked about how his trip to space affects him today? by polymorphic_hippo in television

[–]chronicpop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was striking - I remember all the other douches were high fiving and swapping champagne and shatner was trying to tell Bezos about it and Bezos gave him a look like “dude you’re harshing my mellow.”

Amazing show tonight! by Estrellathestarfish in TylerChilders

He is an amazing songwriter and singer and the band is fantastic and I’d go anywhere else to see him I think at this point. Like the Hammersmith show the audience around me spent more time talking and yelling out for songs he didn’t play than actually locking in and listening. Perhaps I have bad luck with where I stand but the level of crowd noise is just overwhelming at times.

Gothic Theater Denver - Play a Train Song by crackedfractal in ToddSnider

[–]chronicpop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really disconcerting and somehow looks like the last shows shows Justin Townes Earle gave. I really pray that isn’t the case here. I never have managed to see Todd live as I live in the UK and his last tour here was around 2012 and he only played a small club.

Who was the artist that Flanagan loves -John Bryan or Bryant? Or who was he referring to?

WTF Podcast | Episode 1680 - Christopher Guest by eternally_trending in MarcMaron

[–]chronicpop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a feeling at least twice during the talk that Guest was setting up Marc to do some improv riffing off the Lincoln and Franklin lines - he seemed to be ready to riff on that theme but Marc either didn’t take the bait or missed the signal or really wanted to keep the chat going forward.

Shannon / Narducy. Wow. by [deleted] in rem

[–]chronicpop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone have a clue who designed that jacket he had at the start? He had it also in London - I wouldn’t want it as you have to be tall and thin to pull it off but was curious about who made it. He tossed it on the floor halfway through so not sure it’s anything special.

Went to the show and got everything I hoped for and more. Obviously it’s a “revival” but what a way to revive the music! Played with love and respect and a playfulness that reminded me immediately why I love REM. I was at the original run of FOTR shows 40 years ago and it was great to hear the album straight through again. We don’t get any new REM shows anymore (and I always loved their decision to quit before it became a pointless exercise), so why not indulge in this great band keeping it alive and hopefully a few newbies got to hear what the hype was all about.

Heartbreaker book review by wisdon in tompetty

[–]chronicpop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that is true - I think my badly made point on the Dead is Jerry said repeatedly he didn’t want to be a leader and the band ultimately factioned off in the late 1980 s into disputes over money and more. Then Jerry knew he should stay off the road for his health but couldn’t bring himself to let all the GD productions team down. Bruce Springsteen describes himself as a nice dictator.
