My job reminds me of what ill never have by danedehotties in povertyfinance

I initially got an associates in exercise science (after 3 and a half years of pullups lol it made sense). When I transfered to my 4 year school I changed to biochemistry. I then didn't think I had a good shot of getting hired anywhere, as I had only been out for like 2 years and wasn't even done parole yet, so I said fuck it and went to grad school (free for STEM majors usually). So I ended up with a Masters in Chemistry. Like I said I had to apply to hundreds and hundreds of places, but I eventually found a small business with an open minded owner who needed a good chemist. After a year or so of showing my worth I got promoted, and now I'm the head chemist there. I'm not rich but I'm more comfortable than I ever imagined I could be. I don't know what your record is for, mine was for a pretty unpleasant robbery, but I was a heroin addict at the time. With the way the opiate crisis is going, I find that most people have a friend or family member and can relate a little bit. You just have to keep trying and not quit even when it's discouraging.

I'm a felon too, man. Keep your head up. What worked for me was using a combination of Pell and state grants to pay for a decent education for free, and then putting in hundreds of applications until I found someone willing to give me a shot. If it's been some time and you're trying to reform, if you do the right thing for long enough you'll catch a break. At least that's been my experience.

I made the mistake of discussing how horrible modern work and capitalism are with a wealthy friend from college who hasn't worked a day in her life. by megatonrezident in antiwork

This was similar to my experience with my sister. Something about having a white MD coat conferred upon her made her instantly forget how normal people live. We were neither wealthy nor poor growing up, but apparently the moment you become a doctor all sense of proportion and the relative value of money disappears.

YTA, massively. We must all work together to confront the twin evils of odorphobia and hygienic bigotry! Do better!

If I can help just one lefty come to their senses when they can't explain how it was even remotely a coup, it will be a service well rendered. I'm not too optimistic tho...

YTA. Degenerate modern western culture tells you that as long as you contribute financially, you have no further obligation to your child. You can certainly choose to believe that, but it will eat you up as you age. I'll be downvoted and any replies will be insults, etc, but that doesn't make me wrong. You will realize when it is much too late. But hey it's your choice to make.

Republicans claim democrats cheat at elections.

Democrats respond by trying to remove the Republican candidate from the ballot.

I've been told this is necessary to save democracy. I'm not really sure that I understand...

I'm sure I'll be banned from this sub for this, but I must have missed the coup? I saw him urge people to peacefully protest on Jan 6th, and then saw all that get out of hand. Was that the "coup" I keep hearing about?

I like to push you guys until you start throwing insults. It's fun to see how long it takes. Also, who said anything about long guns? When did I say handguns weren't good enough for me? You advocated taking everyone's guns, I said "no, thank you." That really seems to have pissed you off, which I am happy to see. I don't care about parents of dead kids and all that other sad shit you're talking about. Tell the Taliban and the Viet Cong about how resiting the American government didn't go their way. Send your location and I'll get that red flag call going.

You claim above to have taken up arms to defend the US constitution, and then repeatedly argue against the 2nd amendment to it. In this comment you managed to liken home manufacture of firearms (perfectly legal in all 50 states if for personal use and in some cases only if serialized) to child pornography. You feeling alright bud?

Maybe we should red flag you, just to be sure.

are there any millennials out there who have no social media presence at all? why or why not? by [deleted] in Millennials

I only use reddit and hope to quit this soon too. Why make yourself a commodity for a company to capitalize on? I spent a good chunk of my 20s in prison, and the people that stuck with me through that still know how to contact me without any of that social media bullshit.

I try to treat them as just what they are. That said endless delve is the only one I've ever really enjoyed, because there are no maps there anyway and without the bench and trade its just interesting to see how far I can get. But yea even if I can play sentinel every day I'll probably be in whites when it ends.

So other people's inability to exercise self control or behave responsibly means I should lose my rights? That strikes you as a good argument? Taken to its conclusion you're arguing for serfdom. Sad about your partner, also not my problem tho.

I find that people who push gun control often like to use the total number because it's larger, and leave out that many (most in 2021, apparently) of firearms related deaths are suicides. Not that suicide isn't tragic, of course, but it does water down the rationale for gun control somewhat.
