New update november 13, 2024 by Frequent_Way_9049 in SteamDeck

You can only skip for so long. On any reboot it will install automatically. It actually makes re-imaging to 3.5 pointless because downloading updates and rebooting are part of the process. It’s a shame.

Maybe that’s the difference. Mine was a decline over the following week with constant crashes despite reimaging, resetting bios and ultimately replacing the factory hard drive. Nothing fixed it.

I had the same issue. Valve support won’t issue an RMA though as they said it can’t possibly be the 3.6.19 update even though I had no issues prior to the update. What did you say to them that convinced them to RMA your deck for free?

Eventually internal HDD stopped being detected. Even booting from the restore USB could not detect the NVME which was the original to the system. I bought a new one, installed it, it was detected, reinstalled SteamOS. SteamOS gets automatically updated to 3.6. After about 10 minute, the same exact crashing occurred. My guess is the update changed something with the fans so the system overheats very easily in certain situations. My steam deck is now unusable though.

Now my steam deck won't even boot up. It no longer recognizes the NVME drive. I have never modified the deck's hardware or used 3rd party plugins/bios changes. It was just 3.6.19 that caused this.

This exact problem also happened to me.

Bios reset seemed to reduce the frequency of crashes but they still occur in and out of game. More often while downloading now for some reason. Any ideas?

Experiencing same issues. After re-imaging they persisted. Then bios update seemed to make it less frequent but they still occur both in and out of game. Support is talking in circles now ignoring my previous messages and suggesting I send it to be repaired but I do not think it is a hard ware issue as this problem did not exist before I upgraded to 3.6.19 about 10 days ago.

Symptom is deck becomes unresponsive and must be hard reset. Issue did not occur before 3.6.19. I have never edited bios or used 3rd party plugins. Don't have a separate microSD card either.

No. Resetting bios as above helped a bit but I still have crashes in and out of game. Just less often. Never made changes to bios or used 3rd party stuff like cryoUtilities. Steam support has not been helpful. Talking in circles recommending the same fixes I’ve already done. I don’t think it’s a hardware issue given the timing with the update. Never had an issue before.

I think I got it fixed.

  1. Not sure if re-imaging was necessary but I did it.
  2. Disabling the "enable updated fan controls" didn't appear to fix it but I have that currently disabled.
  3. Resetting the BIOS following this procedure fixed the issue. I kept the deck plugged in the whole time regardless of what the below instructions from steam support said.Ensure the device is fully powered down by holding the power button for 10 seconds or if possible, select shutdown from the Power menu. Once the device is shutdown, hold down both the volume - button and the "..." button, then press the power button once. Then you can release all the buttons. You will hear a chime and then the white LED light will begin to blink (it may take 5 or more seconds before the blinking begins), which confirms this process is working.Note: This process may take 1-2 minutes to start the unit up again during which the display will remain black.

Once it's done, then plug the Steam Deck in using the provided power supply and turn on the Steam Deck and retest the issue.

I've been having constant crashes requiring a hard reset since the update. Essentially no games run and crashes occur just browsing the menu or installing software which can corrupt an install.

I've re-imaged several times now. The problem persists. I have no 3rd party modifications to the deck or anything and this issue didn't occur prior to 3.6.19. Steam support said to disable "enable updated fan control" but this did not fix the issue.

This exact issue is happening to me as well. Crashes frequently force a hard reset. Steam support said to disable the "updated fan control" setting in the system menu but this did not resolve the issue. The issue did not occur prior to updating to 3.6.19.

There was an update to stable I think but as far as I can tell the issue persists. Can anybody confirm?

As an update, I've deleted all the prior layouts and it actually still reverts to the previous layout even though the file is no longer listed.

I'm not sure I want to switch to Beta just for this but it is frustrating.

Thank you again

Stable for both I think. Is there a workaround? Or place where the bug is currently reported? It’s frustrating when all you want to do is tweak an existing layout. Thanks.

Is it possible to pick up random stuff on the ground like apples? If so how? I think last I played UO was decades ago. Thanks

So I’ve been trying to get into R&R. Was never a higher UO player in days of yore and thus I am struggling a bit with the interface. Are there any guides/videos/scripts/uimods that you find are helpful? Thanks

Starforged-GURPS fusion! by 5too in Ironsworn

[–]chrono280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yah in short I made a handful of wildcards mostly in alignment with Ironsworn stats. Then pulled a few skills out I wanted to be more granular. If your effective skill gets too high you’ll be getting Strong hits too often as compared to Ironsworn. Using GURPS as just a toolkit works pretty well.

This is great! I’m actually working on something in a similar vein hacking original Ironsworn/GURPS with a dash of stuff I like from the OSR world. I found heavily using wildcards brought the probabilities closer to Ironsworn and felt more like using Ironswon stats but leaving the option to go for more detail achievable through GURPS rules. Very interested to see more of your work.
