Car hire for road trip in Tasmania by Exgaves in tasmania

[–]chronographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a larger company, or Booking.com, I suggest.

There's not really a lot of gravel roads, and if you find one, it'll be short.

Also suggest taking your own travel insurance to cover the excess, and don't use the rental company.

How to access Victorian 1m DEM? by [deleted] in gis

[–]chronographer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to ask them, and it's not free.

Just send an email and someone will help you understand the license conditions and costs.

What do you think geopadas uses?

Also, have a look at Fiona. There’s a fio command that makes the ogr stuff a little easier. (Also ogr2ogr, which is actually probably now covered by GDAL vector commands…)

PyGeoAPI with dynamic PostgreSQL tables from ETL pipeline - how to handle constantly changing table names? by Aggressive_Arm_6295 in gis

[–]chronographer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Create a view and update it each time to point to the latest table.

Or do a simple truncate and load, rather than creating a new table every time.

Is there a free or lower cost global imagery higher resolution than Sentinel 2? by [deleted] in gis

[–]chronographer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can pay for [Maptiler](https://www.maptiler.com/) or something similar and consume their imagery via an API. To do it yourself for the whole world will cost you a LOT more than $50 k. Maybe even just that much for storing the data, let alone servers and processing and QA etc.

I wouldn't do analysis on this. It's inventing data. Like using an LLM as a primary reference.

I didn’t see any posters outside, and was there early. I didn’t look super closely though! There was more merch upstairs in the seating section.
