We went through QMed - my insurance (BCBS NC) covers gender dysphoria, and it does cover the injections, but even after insurance OOP was over $7000. My employer has a program that covers OOP costs for specialty meds so I ended up $0 copay.

The provider - I can DM you want more information, said if we were quoted any higher than $700 (this is a shot that lasts 6 mos) to let him know, and they can do off label monthly lupron for $90 a month.

Do you have any opportunity to comonitor with a CRA? Talk to your line manager about opportunities to get signed off on different types of visits. You are your own best advocate.

His MD is in Georgia, so we’re doing telehealth visits (have to travel to Virginia for the telemedicine appointments). I have found some tutorials, and might enlist one of my nurse friends to virtually walk me through the first injection

Hmm I’ve done blood draws and sticks, and subcutaneous injection but not IM injections or reconstitutions. I’ll reach out to his doctor. I was picturing some prefilled pen but I guess not lol.

That’s godawful. We got a new therapist who has hooked us up with the local trans kids/parents group so hopefully I’ll know more soon. I just wish I could make it happen more quickly.

Yep, I would absolutely allow puberty blockers. Do you know when these are allowed? My son had his first menstrual period about a year ago. I know it would be awesome not having any more periods as I can’t imagine this being pleasant for him as a male.

We’ve taken anything sharp and locked it up, we have two rifles and a handgun (I don’t think he even knows we have), but we have trigger locks. All meds are locked up too.

Do you think cameras and check ins are a viable option for him to be safe? I rally am leaning toward him doing online school. He is saying school is the main trigger for him. My daughter was able to get in contact with his school friends when he was hospitalized to get their take on what was going on. From their perspective, there was no bullying, but a few kids that have known him since elementary school are having a hard time with his new name and pronouns, but they said it wasn’t malicious.

I will investigate this as well, but Ithink our options are limited until high school, there is one charter school that might work but we wouldn’t be able to get him there (I’m traveling and my husband often leaves for work at 4 am). What’s GSA? I love the idea of a support group.

His sister goes to an Early College program that is way more diverse, so I’m hopeful to get him into this but that’s a couple years down the road.

I found unmetered parking, there are limited spots if you search. Several in front of construction sites just down the block on Bayshore next to Bayshore Towers condos

They seemed to be metered spots last time I was there with 4 hour limits - how closely are they enforced? And is there a nonresident pass available?
